Hi,

I am recently widowed and am now alone. I am very nervous about going on a 'single' holiday and was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has been in a similar position and can give me some courage to book my first holiday without my husband.

Thank you

Hi Rhonda,

My husband died in February last year and I know exactly how you feel. I had never even lived alone let alone gone on holiday alone.

However, I need not have worried. I read all sorts of posts on the JY forum and, very nervously, decided to take the plunge and went to France in May. Had a great time.

Am off to Calabria at the end of next week.

I decided to go for shorter tours to start with to see how I got on.

JY is a very safe way to travel. There is a tour manager from start to finish. Some fly out with the group, others, like France, met us on arrival.

Find what you would like, and book it.

If you would like my email address so that we can correspond off forum then ask Julia and she will send it to you.

All the best

Sylvia

PS. Julia, please note last sentence to Rhonda.

I am very sorry that you have been recently widowed, I have been on 9 JY holidays (I am not a widow), along the way I have met so many ladies in your position, from what I have heard them say, it is very hard to go on the first holiday but once they have they soon book another.

this is a very safe way to travel, the group soon looks out for one another, there is a JY manager with you along the journey so you cannot get lost, that's always my worry!!...it is your holiday join in with what you want to do,you can be with the group or stand on the side it's totally up to you, I have met some great people, some I still keep in touch with and have travelled again with them with JY.. I love the mixed age range, at the end of the day if your all on a holiday you have that choice of destination in common.

There is a new brochure due out soon with 2014 holidays in it. I am sure there will be one if not more that catches your eye..

if I can help you with anything else just ask.

Hi Rhonda,

I booked my first JY holiday 4 years ago (a year after losing my partner) and it was the best decision i made, travelling with other people did me the world of good. You'll find a lot of people in a similar position.

Next month I'll be doing my 10th JY holiday.

Afternoon Rhonda,

Please do not be afraid to take the plunge and go for a JY holiday.

You will find that it's a wonderful way to travel, you will meet some great people and see some amazing sights.

I was very nervous when I took my first JY holiday, several years ago now and am just due to take my 9th!!,but wouldn't travel with any other company.

Just peruse the brochure, choose somewhere you would really like to go and make the booking. Believe me, you will not regret it.

Keep your chin up.

Regards,

Denise:thumbup::thumbup:

Hi Rhonda,

I am a JU newbie (I, like you, am a widow and am trying to pluck up the courage to book my first JU holiday.

Just to add my thoughts for Joy and Rhonda and to assure them they will not regret it if they decide to do a JY HOLIDAY. I am about to do my 3rd at Xmas. I have been widowed for almost 4 years and have done a few other holidays with friends and family but really enjoy being in a group of like minded people.

Hi Valerie,

Many thanks for your very kind message of encouragement. It obviously worked as I have booked Xmas in Sorrento. I am so excited, but also nervous. Did you book your Xmas trip?

Kind regards,

Joy

I am with Valerie, widowed for 2 years and I go on my 3rd Trip on Wednesday to Alpine Europe and then on 6th October upto Scotland. Scotland will be different as I meet them up in Inverness. My best way is 15 hours overnight by National Express from the South of England. No direct flights and I would prefer not to drive all that way on my own 😞

I have 2 wonderful daughters and have been on many holidays with them. They have their own lives and I find this is the easiest way to see what is on my bucket list :)
