Hey everyone my name is Kerry, I'm 21 and just joined the site today. I have been looking to explore different countries and sights of the world for many years by my friends aren't too keen on that sort of trip/never have any money..so I decided to join a site like this. I've been reading into the Pyramids & Nile Cruise trip and I was looking to go around May time. It will be my first sort of trip like this has anyone had any good experiences etc? I'm quite nervous about the whole thing cause it is a lot of money but honestly, the trips they plan for you and how it's all scheduled sound amazing.

I was wondering if any of you have some similar suggestions to the Pyramids & Nile Cruise but maybe a little cheaper/closer to the UK that way - if it isn't for me I haven't wasted almost 2 grand lol!

Much appreciated guys!

Hi Kerry, welcome to JY!

I've been to Egypt twice (but not with JY) and it is a wonderful country. The JY tour is very comprehensive so you would definitely be seeing the best of the country, so if you can afford it, I'd say go for it! I was 23 when I first went to Egypt and I absolutely loved it - it was incredible to see the pyramids and temples close up and I loved the food, the scenery around the Nile and so much more. At 21 you'd probably be the youngest on any JY tour - on some tours there might be one or two under 30 and a couple around 40, but mostly the age range is 50s-70s. But don't let that put you off! I'm 42 and often end up having the best fun with folks who are considerably older than me.

If you do decide on a tour that's cheaper/closer to home, the Treasures of Andalucia tour is extremely popular (this was my first JY tour and there was a guy of 28 on it) and I'd also say that any of the Italy tours would be very interesting, with great scenery and food! So I do hope you decide to travel with JY - once I took the plunge I've never looked back!

All the best,

Bob

Hello Kerry

Welcome. I went on the Pyramids and Nile cruise in 2007 and had a fantastic time. The sites are amazing. There is nothing like cruising the NIle and in the morning opening the curtains and there before you is a site thousands of years old. I would recommend taking hand sanitizer and something for upset stomach. On no account drink the water. You can ask Julia to let you know the age range of your fellow travellers.

I am off to the Cilento Coast in June. This will be my fourth holiday. Don't be anxious. Any nerves you have will disappear. I have found that my past travel mates have been a friendly bunch.

Which ever tour you decide to take, happy travels. You will not regret it. Mel

Hi Kerry

i have done a Nile cruise twice and visited the pyramids twice also, it's a must do trip though you are young enough to get another chance in your lifetime should you go for something a little closer to home, the pyramids are stunning to see and any Nile cruise is special, just cruising down the nile watching all the local life on the river banks and the scenery is stunning, all offshore excursions are done early morning or late afternoon as it gets too hot inbetween, May is also a good time to go, i once went in June and boy was it HOT but the vessels usually have pools so you can cool down and the food is international

best wishes

Dave

Hi Kerry; (my favourite name. No offence but I had a beloved labrador called Kerry!! 🙂 )

I endorse all the enthusiasm expressed here so far, having also done the Nile Cruise and, separately, Cairo and Sharm El Sheik. Sadly I’m at the other end of life’s spectrum and wish I had visited when nearer your age.

If you’re into antiquities as you seem to be, the excitement of treading the same paths as the pharaohs as well as slaves thousands of years ago and witnessing close-to just what they achieved is truly indescribable. Pictures really don’t do anything there justice.

I have just checked JY’s tours and notice that both include a visit to Cairo first. My first escorted tour in 2006 was the Nile Cruise only which blew my socks off and I just had to return to take in Cairo, instead of combining the two to start with. It’s good to see that both JY’s tours also take in the capital and, especially, the Egyptian Museum – another must-see.

If you can afford it, I highly recommend the longer of the two, there is so much to see and you won’t regret it, I promise!

Keep watching this thread – I’m a newbie to JY too, having just recently posted my own – and you’ll benefit from heaps of advice and experience frm so many other helpful travellers. Ask anything else you like, there’ll be someone who’ll have the answer. A great resource.

BOOK NOW!!! – as they say! :-)

Hi Kerry

Welcome to Just You community. I had booked the Nile Cruise with Sharm el Sheikh add on for next week (flying out on Tuesday!), but unfortunately had to cancel and put it on hold. If you like sightseeing then this is the one trip you should do. I am planning to do this next year and hope that Just You will offer the Sharm el Sheikh add on aftter the cruise.

Regards

Jaya

Hi Kerry

Like you I wanted to go to Egypt, but couldn't find friends who were available and/or could afford to go with me, and I didn't have the confidence to go entirely on my own, so in November 2011 I found JustYou and went with them. I wrote quite a big review of my experience which you should be able to find in the Review section on these boards.

As Bob says above, at 21 you will be one of the younger, probably THE youngest, in your group (usually about 30 people). I suppose this might be a problem if you fancy going to nightclubs at the end of each day, but otherwise don't let it put you off, as everyone mixes. In fact, when you get talking to the other people in the group, many of whom are seasoned travelers, you'll pick up plenty of tips and anecdotes and come back from the holiday full of ideas about where to try next. You may even make some good friends within the group and end up traveling with them again.

As it happens, I've just come back from my third JustYou holiday, and this time I was the youngest person in a group of 25 - and it wasn't a problem at all.
