Hi Phil,

Although I'm a bit of a JY veteran (9th trip) I'm sure they will be plenty of newbies along with Pauline and yourself.

Look forward to meeting you.

Are you flying from Gatwick ?

Mick.

Hi Pauline, Glad to know you`re feeling more confident now, these messages definitely help. Last year was my first JY and now I wonder why I felt so hesitant.

I will be going 5th May but I have read so many messages now, I am totally confused as to who is on 28th April and who is on 5th May but I am looking forward to meeting you anyway. I know we will have a good time.

Hi Margaret

Yes the messages are reassuring. I am going on 28th April, seems like we will miss each other, as my holiday will be over when yours begins. Pauline

I am thinking of booking the extra trips, are these usually worth booking?

Pauline,

I've booked the trips usually do this on most holidays.

Two reasons :-

1. I may never visit this part of the world again so want to see what i can.

2. I'm not one for lazing around the pool or beach so would be looking for something to do on free days anyway, like a long walk or maybe visit somewhere using public transport, so the fact JY do excurrsions is a bonus to me.

On the hols I've done I'd say the majority of the excurrsions are very good, have had the odd one that haven't been to my taste but its very few.

Yes, definitely. I really enjoyed the trips last year in Andalucia, but I would say that sometimes they seem a little hectic, so this time I am going to take one day just to relax and enjoy Castellebate. It`s difficult because they all look really good. Not long to wait now! Margaret :s

Yes time is marching on quickly isn't it?

5th May departure lol

The orientation trip on the first full day up to Castellabate (we only had a quick look round last time) and then back down to Santa Maria is only a half day trip ( a nice gentle introduction to the immediate area). Some people took the option of walking back along the beach to San Marco last time. Santa Maria is bigger than San Marco (more like a very small town), and there are some nice places to have a drink, and one really nice open front restaurant (if it is open) right at the begining of the beach in Santa Maria which I can highly recommend.

The Paestum trip is well worth while, plenty of time to look round the ruins and pick up souvenirs. Then off to try some of the local eatables! I have a feeling we were back in the hotel about 4pm.

The Salerno trip is new to me but I am presuming (given the distance) that it is a three quarter day again. Eila Velia is a half day trip. I missed that last time so it is a must.

People I was with spoke highly of the Amalfi/Ravello trip although it was a fair distance on the coach. If I am tempted by either of the optional tours it will be this one. Cilento National Park is stunning though.

So yes. Plenty of time for a long walk, up to Castellabate on the bus and even a bit of time on the beach. LOL

Hi Mick

Thanks for your response, you have been very helpful. It's just I am not always keen to have everything organised for me, but there is a first time for everything.
