Hello Bob

I am surprised that you have made a comment that you cannot get a Cash Passport/Prepaid Currency Card in Ireland. Likewise, I couldn't get one from a bank. However, I got mine from the Channel Islands Co-Op, and also our Post Office do them as well.

I see from your previous posts that you fly from Belfast. It may be possible for you to get one from a Bureau De Change such as Travel EX at the airport. Just You do one, but that would take time, because of the post. When I got mine it was instant over the counter.

Please don't take this post the wrong way. I am only trying to give you a couple of suggestions that may work for you.

People living in the UK sometimes do not realise the extra hurdles that people such as us, have to overcome.

Best wishes

Peter

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your thoughtful post! I live in Co. Wexford in the Rep of Ireland, but fly from Belfast as JY are not allowed to book me connecting flights from Dublin (as they can't do bookings that originate outside the UK), which is an inconvenience but one I am happy to bear with in order to go on JY hols! In case you're wondering I did book flights myself from Dublin on my first JY hol, which turned out to be a disastrous move - the flight time was changed so my outward flight was useless and had to be changed and then on the way home a lightning 24 hour strike in Spain meant we all had to get new flights - this would have been covered by JY if they had booked my connecting flight, but seeing as I'd booked my own, it cost me an extra £250 to get home!!

We can't get those prepaid cards here in Ireland, not sure what the story is in Northern Ireland but I'll ask at the airport in Belfast and see what they say. It's the small Belfast City airport that I fly from, so they mightn't have the facilities there or I could try a post office on my way to the airport. Thanks again for the info, it must be lovely living in Jersey if not a little frustrating at times being outside the mainland loop?!!

Best wishes,

Bob
