Hi I have just started looking at booking by first solo holiday. Im interested in the Kenya trip. Can anybody tell me what are the age group of people on the JY holidays, Im 35 but just want a realistic opinion of the ages of people on the trips. Also might be a silly question but when flying out to destinations do you sit on the plane with others from the trip?

Im very nervous about taking the first step to book, so would be appreciate the others to some of my concerns.

Thanks

Welcome Sarah

Can I point you to the Share your travel tips section on these boards as the AGE question is on there. You would be in the younger age bracket

I have done 8 tours there is a video on here from me Cindy Nixon which might answer some of your other questions.

I have been on the Kenyan Safari tour which was amazing. SO if there are any questiones re that tour ask away and I will try and answer.

JY cannot confirm that you will sit with another fellow traveller they try and block book seats, so it is odds on you will ne at least near someone if not next to. I don't need to sit with someone on the tour group as I really don't like flying that much so I need peace and quiet!!! ha ha ha.

I can understand how you feel but this is a very safe way to travel to see the world and meet a great bunch of people along the way, I did the add on on this tour which was well worth it to laze around, it was fantastic to see the animals running free.Lovely memories.

Hello and welcome Sarah

Believe me there is nothing to be scared about going on a Just You holidays. The age range on the holidays I have been have been from late 20s to 80s. I think it all depends on the trip. Most of the time, especially on long haul journeys, you meet your fellow travellers in the lounge before departure. Otherwise you can always look out for Just You labels on fellow travellers hand luggage and introduce yourself. On my first trip to Jordan I met up with a couple of my fellow travellers at the check in desk. When I went to Costa de la Luz I did not see anyone till we were on the plane - I had checked in very early! I would say, pick a destination you always wanted to see and just book it. If you get on with people of all ages, then you will not have any problems. After all, age is just a number. Life is too short to worry about such things. Of course, it is natural to feel a bit nervous and I too was when I took the plunge and booked my trip to Jordan but I soon found out that there was no need at all. I have not been on 3 Just You holidays and have a 4th one booked for October. Good luck.

Hi Sarah,

I think Cindy is right. My first trip with Just you was when i was 23 to Paris. I had never been abroad before and i was so excited about it that i didn't really think about the age issue however i was definitely the youngest but it wasn't a barrier. I had a fantastic time and again in Croatia last year. I am still in contact with two people i met there who are in their sixties! In fact, i think i may be the youngest ever hehe (give it up for me). Either way, age is not a problem- you're all their to have a good time.

Thanks Mark

LOL YOU might think your the youngest!!!!! but I bet your not...I am glad the age range does not put you off. I love the whole age range, if I am honest, having two Sons 24 and 22 I can relate to the younger one as MOTHER HEN!! then with the older ones I can relate to them as in a daughter bracket as I see traits of my parents who have passed in some of the people I meet. I do not want to sound derogatory to any age here it's just my feelings. I love how every one mixes in and helps those that need it and keep and eye on others it works so very well. Glad your having a good time on your holidays...

Hi there

I completely get where you are coming from, as I felt the same. Enjoy mixed groups but still good to know someone is around own age. I am was 42 when went on 1st JY holiday to Kenya this year and there was someone a few years younger thane me then several late 40's upto 70. You find you just click with some more than others but all mixed well.

You can actually send an enquiry message or phone up and ask for the sex mix and age range before you book though.

I would say, go for it, I couldn't have had a better time, pleasantly surprised. What have you got to lose! 🙂
