I haven't booked a trip yet. I have never travelled on my own, except from my hometown to Gatwick Airport!! I was suddenly left on my own in December and after being able to get on with my life, I want to do a bit of travelling (I am NOT a millionaere). I really would like to see more of UK. I have been here since 1998, but haven't seen as much as I want. Why? Because my Husband didn't share my interest in this countrys history etc.How do I start this travel around this country? Any good tips?Sorry if my english is not correct. When I arrived in UK I only knew 5 words: Yes, No, Thank you, Sorry, Please. And I am still trying to be better.Lix

Hi LisWhy not try a discovery weekend , I am going to Leicester in October, that way you get to see some of the history of this country as a trip to a castle is included, you wont have to do it on your own and you may meet other people in similar circumstances who could be potential travel companions in the future and the price is reasonable.

Hi Ian.

Thank you very much for your answer. It sounds like at very good idea, especially when I love Castles and old houses.

My plan? I will think VERY hard about going on one of these weekends.

Again Thank you.

Hi Lis

Good suggestion from Ian about the discovery weekends. I have been on quite a few holidays with Just You now but I did one of the weekends first and it was very good for breaking the ice, no-one was a stranger for very long! I would say go for it and enjoy meeting everyone.

Hello everybody.

Thank you for your kind and uplifting answers. I am really thinking hard (can you hear my brain is working, it is making a lot of noise!!) about the Discovery weekend in October.

I have tried to find the address the Hotels address on the internet, but it looks like my brain is not working that way, because I can't find anything.

I have to drive up there on my own, and I am still a bit nervous driving here on my own and ebcause of that I alwayes plan my travel very carefully, so you know, I don't get off the wrong junction etc.!!. Just need the address so I can find my way. :)

Hope I'll be able to make it.

Hi Lis

I will be driving up from Cornwall, I don't know where you live, but if my route takes me through or near to where you are I will gladly meet you somewhere so we can find it together. I spent 20 years as a lorry driver so I am used to finding places.

Hi Ian.

Sorry for not coming back to you sooner, but my computer went on strike - maybe because of the hot weather - but now it looks like it has come to its senses again.

Thank you for you offer, but I am living away from your route. But I will drive up there, because I have to learn to do this and that on my own now. I am living in Kent, so it is not too bad driving up there.

Thank you again for offering your help, and I am looking forward to seeing you. Hopefully the weather will be more human at that time.

Hi Lis

It's the first time for me as well. I've just booked for the October discovery weekend and thinking about booking for Cyprus in Feb. I find the idea of going on holiday with strangers really scary but all the messages seem to indicate they are such fun. Hey ho, in for a penny and all that. Hope to see you at Leicester/
