I'm planning to book the Route 66 holiday as soon as the 2013 dates become available, as it's something I've always wanted to do.

Can I ask a big favour please. When you come back would you be willing just to write out briefly any suggestions for bars, restaurants, and music venues for just the major cities/stops on the route. In particular the music associated with route 66 is of particular interest to me. Could you either email this to me (I'm sure Ben will be happy to give you my email address) or put it on this site, whichever is easiest for you.

Thanks for your help.

have a great holiday.

Hi Mick

Just called JY and booked all the optionals too. I asked about the whereabouts of the Tam O'Shanters pub and the lady googled it and we think it's in LA and if it's the 1 she found it sounds like a great pub.

Wil be up for a few trips into towns with you and any others that want to come along. Might be my only visit to the USA so I want to see and do as much as possible while I'm there. As I've said before I also want to eat what the typical American eats too and not in our hotel every night.

I hope we can get enough people to go on the trip to Branson. It sounds a really good night out and with a show included.

Hi Stuart,

No problem at all, could definately give advice on Chicago now depending what you like, its my favorite City been 10 times and tried loads of places. Would def do a Blues Club at least one of the nights but there are options (piano bars, jazz clubs etc.) even if its not your style of music they are good.

Was in St Louis 6 years ago, found some decent places that will check out they are still going.

Had couple of nights in Flagstaff on "parks & canyons" with JY, ally american diner near hotel but a few of us found a cracking place in town (great restaurant and attached bar with live music). Will try find name and address.

Still will promise to do a testimonial after our trip and highlight a few places for the benefit of all.

If you have specific questions I'm happy for Ben to pass my email on.

Ben,

Don't think you are supposed to publish my email address (as per previous 2 comments), just pass on to Stuart & Paul.

Hi Mick

Ben has sent me your email details now and I see you are in fact a Leeds United fan. We should have some very good conversations then because for my sins I'm a Man United fan. Looking forward to some good banter.

Hi all would suggest that you all read Billy Connelly's Route 66 book. I did the trip in April this year and bought the book when I got back. It's great to keep saying " I was there"!!!

Have a great time.

Saying that I've been lucky on most trips (not all) and usually got sat with someone from our group.

One tip on way home you will have made friends and if couple of you check in together you may be able to sit together.

Hi Janne

Someone bought me that book for Christmas because I was going on this trip. Not read it yet though. Is it good?

Hi everyone,

Just found this forum.

I'm booked on the 24th September trip departing from Manchester.

First JustYou trip, looking forward to it.

Did the Golden West trip last year with sister company Travelsphere and really enjoyed that, can recommend the Universal Studios tour especially the lot tour through the King Kong ride.

Regards,

SteveW

Hi Steve,

Agree with what you say about Universal Studios, great day out. I did the Golden West with JY a couple of years ago.

Have a great road trip in september, we've a bit longer to wait until October.
