Hi. Is anyone else booked to go to India on 28th April? If so, I would be glad to hear from you. Regards Terri :)

I have just returned from the Spirit of India tour and had a fabulous time. It was very hectic and there was a lot of travelling involved. No one took any malaria tablets, just be prepared with plenty of insect repellant spray. The other must have is Immodium instants (just in case) and hand sanitiser gels. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and I wouldnt have missed a minute of it. You'll all have a great time. Hope this helps.

Hi

I am not going on this trip, but am considering it for maybe 2014, am going to China this year, sounds exciting that you are all arranging to meet up beforehand - woud love to know how you all get on and whether the insect repellent and creams work!

BW Alison.

Hi All

I would not be overly worried about the lack of replies via the Just You Community page. There will be probably more people on your trip, Than which actually use this site. As not all your fellow trippers will make use of this exellent little tool.

I do some work on behalf of The Indian Visa Application Centre in Glasgow. And was offered a fantastically home made samosa.

I would love to hear from anyone with some feed back on this trip. As India is a country that I Would really like to visit.

Enjoy your trip

Andy

Thanks Andy - I know that 23 are booked on this trip so I'm not worried. It's a pity that more haven't accessed the community page but I've been in contact with three other lovely ladies so we're meeting in Garfunkel's prior to catching our flight which will be good. I'm more bothered about my holiday tickets at the moment with only 10 days to go but I'm sure that Olly will be on to it. Don't know if my fellow travellers have received their tickets yet or if I'm just having an unnecessary panic. Will let you know how we get on. Sue

Quick update - tickets have now arrived. The office told me that they were sent out on 4th April so have taken 2 weeks to reach me. So panic over - now my problem is how to pack only 20kg of luggage - think that will take quite a bit of planning! Sue

My tickets have not arrived yet!! If they don't come in tomorrow's post I will have to phone JY to see what has happened to them. What are you doing about money? Are you changing some in the UK or are you going to wait until we get to Delhi? Terri

Hi Terri,

My tickets took 2 weeks to arrive - yours are probably in transit as well. Money - in the information pack that came with the tickets it says "the import and export of local currency is prohibited" and everybody seems to recommend taking Sterling, or US Dollars, and changing money in the hotels as you go. I'm going to take Sterling as there will be nothing to change back if I have money left over, plus I'll take my credit card for any big shopping. I've heard that we don't need much in the way of spends - £150/£200 was recommended as the most expensive item is wine at £35 a bottle so I'll be sticking with the Indian beer. See you next week - Sue

Thanks Sue. Have contacted JY and my tickets were sent out on 4th April the same as yours. Something must have happened to them between JY and us. Have got to phone them again on Tuesday if tickets not arrived by then. Thanks for info on money. I will do the same as you - shame about the cost of wine!! See you a week tomorrow. Terri

Hello Everybody

Have a wonderful time - I am sure you will enjoy the experience. You can't buy Indian Rupees here so will have to change your money when you get there. Just go with an open mind and you will have lots of fun.

Regards

Jaya

Thank you. 5 days to go! Can't believe that we're nearly on our way. Just need to buy my mosquito plug and I'm all set. Trying to put off packing until Friday - mustn't spend the next few days waiting by my packed suitcase - doesn't look cool! Sue

Thanks for your message Jaya. Not long now!! I will be glad to get away from the rain. Last year it was lovely weather at this time and I spend a lot of time in the garden getting a suntan. Not much chance this year though!!

Hi - 3 days to go - bring on the sunshine! How am I supposed to cut the grass and leave the garden looking tidy in all this rain? Still something to look forward to when we get back and we'll appreciate the heat while we're away. See you Saturday, Sue

Hi everybody - just popping in for a last minute catch up. Just weighed the case and it is almost exactly 20 kgs - impressive or what, and to be honest that's with a hair dryer in so I think I'll forget that - I'm told most hotels have them. Look forward to seeing folks tomorrow around 6.30 by Garfunkels. Lisa.

Hi, I went on the Spirit of India trip in March and had a fabulous time. I, and most of the others on the trip, didn't bother with malaria tablets as we were told they were not necessary. I just relied on deet spray and didn't have a problem. You'll have a fabulous time, it's an amazing trip. Enjoy !!! By the way, if the sound and light additional trip is still on offer, don't bother, it's a complete waste of money.

Annette
