Hi. I'm newly retired (early) and close to booking my first holiday on my one. I would like to visit Italy and have narrowed my choices down to Lake Garda and Cilento Coast. I'm torn between visiting large, busy, touristy, but beautiful cities, and spending time seeing a relatively quiet but interesting area of the country. Can anyone help me make the final decision?

Hello Jean 77

Welcome to JY holiday's you will have a great time I am sure. I have not done either of the two tours that you mention but I have done the Highlights of Tuscany which I really enjoyed, not to frantic but still looks to see.

The final dicision lies in your hands I am afraid, either that or indulge and do them both!!!!! Have fun

Hello. I did the Cilento trip in April, a great trip with lots of interesting excursions, the hotel was good and I am sure you would not be disappointed, enjoy whatever you decide. I did Costa Rica in August which was absolutely amazing especially if you enjoy walking and wildlife watching

Hi Jean,

I've booked this trip leaving 13/5/12, I've heard very good reports about it so took the plunge. I've never been to Italy. This will be my 4th trip with Just You.

Hi

You will see from my previous post that i finally settled on Cilento Coast next May. It's a big decision going on your own for the first time, but i feel more relaxed about it now that I've booked. I'm sure you will too.

Hi Jean,

I returned from the Cilento coast two weeks ago and what a fabulous holiday. The hotel was superb - we all had large bedrooms (most of us had suites all overlooking the sea (as on the photo in the brochure). Hardly any tourists, certainly not English anyway. The food was good, hotel staff really nice (although few, apart from reception staff could speak English, but that didn't matter!) It's so uncommercialised you really knew you were in Italy. I shall probably go back a some time!

Regards, Pat

Hi Janice

Wow! I've booked for 13 May too. Can't believe I've found someone who is going to the same place at the same time already. See you there!

Hi Jean,

I went on The Cilento Coast holiday on 9th Oct this year. Simply LOVED it. The hotel is by far the best placed Justyou hotel I've ever stayed in - right beside the harbour & beach. It's a lovely quiet little village with a few bars & a couple of supermarkets, The views & untouristyness of it was what I liked. Be sure to go to Amalfi for the day & up to Ravello. BE SURE also to see Villa Ruffelo whilst in Ravello - simply stunning views from there & beautiful flowers - it's just off the main square.

If you go further down the postings on The Community you'll see what I wrote on my return. Came back 16th Oct.

Good Choice!

Hi Jean,

I'm counting down already especially after reading Helen J's post (thanks Helen). I'll be flying from belfast to meet the rest of the group at Gatwick.
