Hello, I've just registered, and am hoping to book on either Highlights of Tuscany or Lake Garda next April. Feeling more nervous about the travelling than going on a singles' holiday. Has anyone any experience of Gatwick hotels, please? How accessible are they from the railway station? If I get these anxieties sorted out early, I shall get on and book!

Thanks for all your interesting and helpful posts.

I went on this tour last month it is nice. I have no experience on LGW hotels. I do know some ladies stopped at the Softitel?? which is a short walk, seconds from the departure place was about £100.00 a night but I think breakfast was included.

I use Gatwick a lot. The railway station is attached to the south terminal and there is a Hilton hotel at the south terminal. There is a transit train between the south and north terminals which runs every 2 or 3 minutes.. There is a Sofitel hotel at the north terminal. As you would expect from 4 star hotels both are very good and they provide breakfast, buffet style and eat as much or as little as you like. Both hotels are around the 100 pound a night mark but you can always try lastminute.com Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Hi Gill,

I've stayed at the Sofitel at both Gatwick and Heathrow and can recommend them. Modern and comfortable.

Hi Gill. I recommended The Springwood. Lovely guesthouse, nice quiet room and good breakfast. If you arent using your own transport they will pick you up from the airport coming in( between certain hours) and also drop you off there before your flight, free of charge.

There is a great Olde Worlde pub up the road called The Six Bells which has excellent food.

Dave if you read this before you go, please let Sue (the owner) know that Elaine from Nottingham said to say Hi! I hope you enjoy your stay.

Bondensbabe, thanks so much for this. I shall certainly stay there when I go to Tuscany - and will bear The Six Bells in mind. Gill

Hi Gill,

Travelling from Gatwick, I use the Courtyard Marriot, (by the South Terminal).

Nice hotel with easy transfers via bus to both terminals.

Martin.
