Hi Gail,

I am sure there will be more replies nearer the time of travel. I have checked for you and at the moment the main tour of 'The Wonder of China' is over half full and the 'Hong Kong Add-on' is nearly full with a capacity of 12. I hope this puts your mind at rest knowing that other travellers will be there too!!

If I can help you with any other query you have about your holiday, please get in touch.

Warm wishes,

Cheryl, your editor

Hello Sheila

Great to hear you've taken the plunge too - I'm sure we'll have a great time! (5 weeks yesterday!)

I keep checking the temperatures in Beijing and I see it's still quite warm so hopefully it won't drop too much in 5 weeks.

Are you flying down from Durham - if so, what time do you expect to get to Heathrow?

Hi Gael

I will be flying from Durham to Heathrow on 15th. I land about 3.05pm so will have loads of time to make my way to the ex lounge and to wander the shops!! What time will you be there and where are you coming from?

I wonder how many of us are going? Last time I asked I think I was told about 25.

Really looking forward to meeting you

love

Sheila

Hi Gail,

I am booked on the Wonder Of China Tour with Hong Kong add-on on October 15th. It's my first time travelling alone. Apart from Sheila (minkey) have you made contact with anyone else on this trip? Less than four weeks to go now. I am a little apprehensive but looking forward to the trip. Regards,Joe

Hi Sheila & Joe

Great to hear from you both.

The last time I asked there were 20 confirmed on the Wonder of China but she didn't know the numbers for the Hong Kong Add On. I'm not sure yet what time I'll be arriving at Heathrow - my son will be taking me down - but I would think probably about 4.00-4.30pm though.

And no, there's just you two who I'm in touch with . . . so far! 🙂 Still time for others to join us.

I see you're doing the Hong Kong Add On Joe - have you been before?

Look forward to hearing from you both again soon.

Hi Joe

Good to hear there's another person on this trip, wonder if we're all first timers! Where are you coming from?

At least we'll have time for a chat in the lounge before we fly off. I am not particularly looking forward to the long flight from west to east...you always feel 'ugh' on arrival but I'm sure it'll be great once we get there!!

Oh I do wish it didn't take so long for our messages to appear on-screen. I see yours has taken 5 days Sheila!

Yes, I know what you mean about how you feel on arrival. Have you had your final details through yet?

Oh and it is my first time with Just You.

Oh brilliant - the next day, thank you. I guess it may have been because of the weekend why the others were slow in appearing on the board.

Anyway, update for anyone who doesn't know - there are 31 of us doing The Wonder of China (hmm where are they all!), with 10 of us going on to do the Hong Kong Add On. Good numbers then.

Must starting sorting out what to take!

Hi to Gail, Joe and Gillie!

Well 4 of us so far and all new to Just you, fingers crossed it'll work ok! I have ordered my currency , havent got my passport back yet, soon I hope! Keep checking out the weather and it seems to be getting cooler in China but should be warmer than here I think. I think we'll be walking quite a bit, so trainers will be packed! I wonder if we need to take hairdrier ??

Need to get guide book but then I think thats it!! Glad we're going to have time to chat at the airport before the long flight.

Sheila

P.S Joe and Gillie, where are you from??

Gael

Hi Sheila (and Joe and Gillie) - I've been watching the weather too, and yes it does seem to have dropped quite quickly, but like you say it should still be warmer than here!

I haven't done anything about currency yet. I still don't know what to take, e.g. Travellers Cheques in Sterling or US Dollars, and how much currency?

I haven't got my passport back yet either but am assured it will be back in time!

I smiled at you saying about a hairdryer Sheila, cos I had a thought this morning about whether I needed to take an iron.

Well, Gillie says she's coming from Kent, I'm from Leicester and Sheila from Durham. I wonder where Joe's from?

I lay in bed last night reading and just looked at the clock - it was 10.45pm - and thought oh my, 2 weeks today we'll be 'up there'!

:-)

Hi Everyone

I decided to get chinese currency I usually take currency of country -makes life easier, plus the good old credit card if necessary!

I too thought 2 weeks today we'll be there!! Its my birthday on 17th so do hope we 'll get chance to have quick celebration!! perhaps at the opera!

wonder if we'll get more info about the hotels ie facilities they have , although i dont think we'll have any time to be sitting around ! probably need another holiday to get over this one , however i can't wait !!

Hi Sheila, are you getting the Chinese Yuan (remninbi) cos I thought you couldn't buy it outside of China? If so, yes I'll definitely get some. I'll need to get some HK Dollars too, like you say, it helps to have some for when you first get there.

I'm having a wonder about travel plug converters now. Do we need one or is China on the same voltage as the UK? If so, maybe we just need the adapter (assuming the plugs are different).

I don't have a credit card, only a debit card, and I think using it will be a last resort as I understand the conversion and costs will be quite high.

I think you're right about needing another holiday to get over this one! 🙂 It's going to be quite hectic I think with something planned for every day, but I'm so looking forward to seeing the things I've only read about and seen on the TV!

I've actually started making a list of what to take - not clothes, will think about that later - and that's why I got to thinking about the plugs.

That's wonderful you having a birthday - yes we must try and have a celebration of some sort!

Hi Gael Gillie and Sheila (alphabetical order so no favouritism).

Sorry I have been so long replying but work keeps getting in the way. Well, 12 days to go and I have only just really started to think about the holiday. I have booked a day's holiday on Monday so I intend trying to sort out what I need over the weekend and do some shopping on Monday. Best laid plans and all that.

I will be travelling down from Walsall in the West Midlands on departure day by National Express arriving at Heathrow approx 5:15pm.

I have not received any documents, passport etc.. either.

Do any of you girls have an email address, mine is joe.dixon@goodrich.com - fell free to mail me.

I am not sure - are all three of you doing the Hong Kong add-on?

Look forward to seeing you all on departure day, bye for now - Joe

Hi Gael Gillie and Sheila

Received some holiday info in the post this morning (Sat), did you? No passport or tickets just itinerary, luggage labels, hotel details etc.. There was a note to say Passports would be sent under separate cover.

Have just checked the weather in Beijing and it is forecasr rain today and tomorrow (about 12 degrees) but it is forecast sunny and 19 degrees on Monday so there's hope yet.

Will be in touch again soon - Regards Joe
