Hi, I'm booked on the May trip to Borneo and really looking forward to it. The only bit I'm a little nervous about is the walks, especially the one in the National Park. I've heard that it's really steep and tough. Was just wondering if you can tell me how far we walk and what sort of pace it's at?

I enjoy walking and can go for miles, but am a bit of a plodder. I'm scared I'm going to hold everyone up.

Cheers.

Hi Fiona

I’m going on the 9th May trip and look forward to meeting you.  I’m sure I shall also be a bit of a plodder in the heat!   I don’t think we need to worry, I’m sure the guide will take account of all levels of walking speed.

I would be interested to know if anyone is taking anti-malaria drugs.  I’ve received conflicting advice on whether they are necessary for the area we are visiting.

Cheers

Pauline

Hi Pauline

Looking forward to meeting you too. You're probably right, I'm sure they'll not leave us behind. Lol. I suppose it's a nature trek and not a route march.

I was just hoping someone at Just You might be able to say how far the walk is.

I went to a travel clinic and she said according to her info Malaria wasn't an issue where I was going and what I was doing. We'll just have to try and avoid the mosquitos as best we can. I'm stocking up with loads of repellent!

See you soon

Cheers

Hi

I went last year, the nature trek in Kinabalu was fine- decent trainers would be enough, just a bit of muddy path but not "hiking". The tree canopy walk however was a lot of steps, and more uneven/ muddy so some used walking poles. There were walking rails to hold onto but some of the steps were big. Again decent trainers ok and it was steep steps- some choose not to come but the views and the walkways once up were absolutely fine- just a little sway depending how many people were on them but the guides try to help with that. We went at our own speed.

no one took anti malaria tablets - I went in July though- not sur did any different.

Fantastic trip

Hi Lucinda

Thank you very much for giving me so much detail. That's helped put my mind at ease lots. I'll stick my walking poles in just in case. I do want to do the canopy walk, as it's the kind of thing I love doing.

Cheers.
