On the Japan Revealed tour 9 breakfasts, a lunch and 7 dinners are included in the price of your holiday, as are all of your excursions. So, you only really need to think about budgeting for a few meals and any souvenirs that you want to bring home with you. Chatting to one of my colleagues who loves Japan, he suggests base your budget on city prices and you should be fine.

In terms of numbers, there are 15 travellers booked on this tour - 10 taking the main tour only and 5 extending their tour with the Hong Kong add-on, The group is made up of 5 men and 10 women with ages from early-20s through to early-80s... so a complete mix of travellers!

This is my second JY tour but was wondering how much spending money you roughly need for the 11days in Japan...?

I am doing this trip on October 12 and would be interested to know how much money you needed as I too am at a bit of loss as to how much to take. I understand some credit cards are not usable in Japan, so need to make sure I have sufficient funds. Perhaps you can let me know when you get back.

Since the tour itself will have most of its costs covered, there is no need to bring too much money with you.

However, we would say that you should budget for a few lunches, dinners and souvenir purchases by looking at the standard city prices in Japan since things can be quite expensive.

I am going on the October date- put out a post on the Forum but nobody replied - hope I wont be the lone traveler on the trip.     I do hope you have a good time in September and would love it if you or anybody else could give a trip report on your return to say how you got on and also any tips that you could pass on that could be useful.    Enjoy yourself.

Hi - I have just got back from the September trip and it was fabulous. You will need money for lunches, 2 dinners and any drinks (assuming trip itinerary is the same as ours) Lunches were various prices depending where you wanted to eat, I mainly had sandwiches or cakes so maybe around 1000-1500 yen. Most hotels except the last one provided complimentary bottles of water. A glass of red wine ranged from 500 yen to the most expensive in the Atami hotel at @1500 yen for a small glass. There was lots to buy if you want souvenirs. I didn't use a credit card but others did but I did take plenty of cash as I didn't buy any expensive items. We had rain on a couple of days but it was warm so I ended up just using an umbrella but you might want to take a thin mac. You get a headset to use throughout the holiday so it's really easy to hear what is going on. Have a wonderful time.

I dont think your hotel in Tokyo is the same as ours but am sure it will all be fine.   Really pleased to hear about the headsets as my hearing isnt too good when outside.    Can I ask you whether your luggage goes with you on the train or (as was done when I went to China) it was checked in like an airport.     Am thinking about having to heave it on and off trains.    Any others tips/advice would be great. I went on this trip last April.

It really is a must. The people are fabulous and every stage of your trip offers something different. 

You won't have to heave your luggage at all, at any stage. When you go on the bullet train, your bags go by road.  

Tokyo is vibrant, Kyoto is charming and Hiroshima is very poignant. Mount Fuji is stunning.
