Hi all

Have travellers to America seen this.

British travellers might face a nasty surprise if they try to travel to the U.S. - after the country quietly made changes to entry requirements.

Under new rules introduced on April 1, travellers to the country must have an e-Passport to travel under the normal visa waiver programme.

Thanks for this, Tony, but Yve had already spotted it in March and posted. Someone got very concerned because she didn't know if she had an e-passport so a couple of us told her how to recognise one. If anyone wants to check it out, it's under "Travel to the USA".

Hi electronic passports have been standard issue for many years now, so unless your passport is just about to run out, it most probably is an e-passport - you can check this by looking for the symbol on the front cover.

All the best,

Hi as Bob has pointed out E passports have been around for many years now. Indeed the last non E passport was issued in November 2006 so therefore after November 2016 everyone should have an E Passport.

Also anyone travelling to Canada since March 2016 needs their equivalent of an ESTA. There is currently a 6 month leniency period where you can get in without one but after September 2016 everyone will need one. It costs 7 CAD & the official website is www.Canada.ca/eTA .

My 10 year passport runs out August 2017 but it is already one of these E-passports so I would reckon most people are uptodate.....
