Has anyone out there done the New England trip in mid September? I am assuming it will be warmish during the days and chilly in the evenings and should take layers to wear. If anyone has been at this time of year could you please tell me how you found the temperatures?

I went in September and your correct layers are the way to go, trousers t shirts cardigans/fleece.. On the coach with sun coming through can be very warm, then when you get out throw a fleece on.

With the USA tours it really is smart casual unless there is something you are doing that needs a bit more dressing up.

Agree with Cindy, go for layers. I went a couple of years ago and the weather was mixed. We had some beautiful sunny days with not a cloud in the sky, some cloudy days and also a couple of rainy days. So best to be prepared.

Yes layers are defintely the way to go. The year before last we did a grand road trip to the U.P and then down the west coast of Lake Michigan and believe it or not the weather was touching 80 degrees all week. I hadn't taken enough t shirts so had to buy a couple.

Last year we did a shorter trip over from Detroit to Lake Ontario and Niagara. Warmer clothes were defintely right for that one! Then back to Michigan and the t shirts came out again. :thumbup:

I have been to Michigan too as a friend lives there. Not been to the UP yet though.

Canadian weather can be the same at that time of year. I used to live there and have known it at 30C in September. But it can also be cool so, as you say, layers are best to take.

Hi Jools

Glad you have asked this question as was wondering myself about what to pack. Have just bought myself a new case especially for the trip so I can cram everything in and just take a hand baggage on the plane. Less baggage to deal with when on your own the better, although the case is on the bigger side.
