On the subject of travel adapters
1. I buy adapters from ebay, usually from UK sellers. There is a very wide range at prices very much cheaper than the shops or airports. Ebay is particularly useful for India adapters which are our old 5amp which I have never seen in the shops, even local Indian owned shops.
2. I always take at least two adapters. Most people nowadays take a few pieces of electrical equipment and it is useful to be able to use or recharge more than one at a time. It also means you can lend one to fellow travellers.
3. I take at least one with a built in USB charger so that I can charge my phones with just a USB lead. I choose one where I can use the USB socket and the adapter at the same time.
4. I take some things, such as my camera charger with a continental plug fitted instead of our UK 13 amp. I can still plug this into my universal charger, the plug itself is much smaller and it will fit directly into some hotel sockets and shaver plugs.
5. I take pieces of card to put in the slot by the door where the key goes so that I can charge things up when I am out of my room in the evening.
6. http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm is useful for checking individual countries.
