I’m interested in the New Zealand tour with the Cook Islands add on. I see that the Cook Islands extension is shorter on the feb 2020 date and wondered what the difference was versus the date in nov 19 as there’s no detail on the website. So currently I’m torn between the 2 dates and just wanted clarification of the differences.

Also could you tell me how many people have booked for these 2 dates and the age ranges please.

Breathtaking New Zealand for 2020 is a shorter tour as it will start in Auckland rather than spending 2 nights en route in Singapore. Instead we have moved this to be an add-on so it will be un-escorted and customers can choose to stopover in Singapore.

With regards to the Cook Islands add-on this is a 5 night add-on, the first night of which is a pre-registration night due to the timing of the flights and passing the international dateline so on the 2020 example you would leave Auckland on 16 March but arrive on the 15th and spend 5 nights, departing on 20 March.

There are 7 people booked on the November 2019 date so far, 5 men and 7 women. They all aged in their early to mid 70s.

There are customers booked on the 2020 date at the moment.

We've only got one customer booked on our Feb 29th date at the moment, in their 60s.

Lucinda - sounds like JY may not be ideal holiday for you? Try other companies for a long trip like this..there is one with four letters beginning with an "S" - I had a wonderful trip to NZ with them!!

I've just booked Australia for Christmas 2020 so will probably be one of the youngest as its almost 4 weeks; don't let the age thing put you off, we were on the Sri Lanka trip a few years back and even though there was quite an age range I think we had a good group and had a good time.

I can empathise with Lucinda.... if she has no fellow people around 30's and 40's in group it can make a difference on such a long trip - one of a lifetime!! Not many people would be willing to do their own thing during the day - its always nice to "mate up" with someone with things in common.  I think JY should adjust their marketing and not focus on the "over 50's" age bracket?

Vickie, just out of interest if the trip is shorter and Singapore has been made into add-on, will the price of the trip be reduced since Singapore was included in the previous ones?

Thanks for your reply; and yes Sri Lanka was a lovely trip and had a good age range. It’s just nice to know the demographics and a lot of these trips need to be booked early for annual leave, money, sorting my cats prison sentence etc etc. From reading other messages I know there is becoming more of an age range and more younger are going. The Sri Lankan rep we had believed one of the lady’s was my mother all trip ?

it’s just good to have an age range and to be honest the comment of another tour company-the JY holidays are superior to them in the itinerary’s I feel!

i will bide my time ! But so keen to travel again with JY as its been a while -purely as I’ve been travelling with ladies I met on the JY Norway trip! NZ and AUS are just places at the top of my list now!

Also is it possible to do both the Cook Islands post tour and Singapore pre tour? If it’s unaccompanied by a tour manager, do we just have a local rep ?

I think I'm the person in their 60s booked on this trip. I could be the only 1 at this rate! I like to think of myself as very young at heart and fit and active. I'm meeting the tour in Auckland as I will be travelling from Brisbane. Not doing any of the add ons. Would be nice to hear from anyone else that might be going on this date.
