I did this trip in 2010 and, from memory, I took £500 some in yuan and the rest on  prepaid card. There were readily available ATMs in the places we visited if I needed more cash and card could also be used 

like a debit card. All meals are included in this holiday as are most trips so main expenditure will on drinks and souvenirs.

The itinerary has changed since I did this trip but it is a great experience and gives you a real flavour of China.
