I am booked on the Walking in Northern Cyprus trip on 12 October.  I would appreciate some advice regarding what currency to take either Euro's or Turkish lira or a mixture of both.

Thanks

Hi Stepho,

I would take both Euros and Turkish Lira with you on your trip, so that at your hotel you can convert the Euros.

Kindest Regards,

Amy

Hi Amy,

I am confused now as to why I would need to convert my Euro's to Turkish Lira at the hotel, surely I would get a better rate online.  I only thought about taking Euros as most travel sites say Northern Cyprus will take either currency.  Having looked online pound to Turkish Lire rate would seem preferable to the Euro rate.

Hi Steph,

You can try to look around for the better rate (online, post office, at your hotel) but I am aware that travellers tend to take a mixture of both in case you don't have enough currency on hand.

Good Morning Steph,

I have just been informed that most businesses will also happily accept payments in main foreign currencies such as Euro, Sterling Pound, US Dollars, and Cyprus Pounds.

Also, most major international credit and charge cards are accepted by hotels, restaurants, and shops.

I hope this helps.

Kindest Regards,

Amy

Good Morning Beverly,

Usually travellers would take some currency with them and maybe top up from cash points in the main towns.

Also, I can tell you that there are 5 travellers flying out from Manchester airport.

Kind Regards,

Amy

Hi Stepho,

Most plug sockets in Northern Cyprus are 3 pin, the same as the UK.
