Hi...just wondered why there are so few holidays available during main school holiday times?

Last year on the Cilento trip more than 1/3 of the guests worked in schools in some way - there are lots of single teachers desperate for a break!

Most trips seem to be suspended during the main weeks in August...

Thanks  🙂

Good Afternoon,

We apologise that we don't have enough departure dates that work for you- I have passed this on to our tours team and they will look into this.

Please know that we take all your comments and suggestions on board.

Kind Regards,

Mildred

Hi this issue has been raised a number of times over the years and I've read a lot of responses from JY on this topic!  They have, at various times, put on numerous departures during the school summer holiday period.  However as this is a peak time for holidays in general, prices are much higher for flights, accommodation etc. so JY consequently had to charge more for them.  This resulted in these departures not selling well - the anticipated number of teachers booking did not materialise and so a number of tour departures had to be cancelled.  Since then JY have only run a small number of departures during this time.  This obviously applies to European destinations.  Long haul tours are not really advisable during this period as the weather is generally unfavourable (one of the exceptions being the summer Arctic adventure to see the polar bears).  Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Bob

I agree, there are frustratingly few holidays during this time compared to to other (non-singles) holiday companies. This is also true of the Easter holiday period.

I think that the main reason for the reduced number of holidays during the school holidays is down the hotels and the general cost. Hotels are not going to put aside 26 rooms for single occupancy at these peak times when they could just as easily fill them at full occupancy to families with kids.

Unfortunately this does not help out the teachers who need a break from those kids...
