Hello JY.

Can you tell me how many  are booked to go to Burma on 28th November please?  I have tried to reach fellow travellers, without much success, so was wondering if maybe a large group of friends had booked.

Kind regards,

Valerie23

Hi Valerie,

There are 28 travellers booked on this tour - 21 taking the main tour only and 7 staying for the Ngwe Saung Beach add-on.

There isn't anything in our reservations system that would indicate people on this trip know each other prior to travel. It's possible that your fellow travellers aren't members of the community - sadly not everyone uses this forum (perhaps you can spread the word while you are away). There is still a bit of time before you travel so I will keep my fingers crossed that someone sees your post and drops you a message.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thank you very much for the info Julia.

I will certainly extol the virtues of the community whilst away and in the meantime will just have to create my own excitement!!

Kind regards,

Valerie

Hello, I am travelling to Burma on 28th November I would be very happy to chat and find out a bit more about my fellow travellers. Any tips on the currency, would be great, seen so much about taking dollars what are others thoughts. Hope to chat, Suzie Daisy D

Hello Suzie/ Daisy, thanks for replying  -  more exciting to have a little chat before the 'off'.

It does seem that taking dollars is the norm but with an ATM at the airport and more appearing by the day, it seems sensible to use those  -   thus avoiding extra charges for conversion.  I will probably take a little in $ though.

Are you travelling to Heathrow in the morning or staying overnight?

Regards, Valerie

Hi, I'm joining you both, only 3 weeks to go and really excited. I'm staying in the Hilton at Heathrow the night before, are either of you staying over? Look forward to seeing you both. Julie

Hi Jools & Suzie, great to be in communication with you  -  now  I am starting to get excited.  I am not staying at the Hilton so will be joining you at Heathrow in the morning (fingers crossed).  Have either of you been with JY before?

Hi Valerie,  thank you for your info, I am planning to take some dollars too as it does seem the norm from other traveller blogs.  I have booked to stay in the Holiday Inn Ariel Heathrow on the Sunday night ready for the Monday morning take off. Where are you travelling from and are you staying overnight?

Kind regards for now

Suzie

Hello Suzie, I am coming from Suffolk and staying overnight in Twickenham (don't ask!) Do you make it 9 flights all told? If so, I think I may go and invest in a lightweight case - we are going to be lugging these cases around quite a bit. Any great tips for us??

Regards,

Valerie

Hello Valerie and Jools, it is getting nearer now and I am so excited and really nice to have a chat before too. I have to say that I did see some advice that a soft bag would be easier due to the many flights, but not sure if I will be able to sort this out in time, will probably end up with the good old faithful. shame not all staying in the same place the night before, but we will meeting the next morning. Hello Newby will certainly give you some feedback for your trip in February. Kind Regards, Suzie

Morning Suzie,

I am about to go out and purchase a soft case as when I went to pick up my Samsonite, it felt sooo heavy, before I put anything into it! I also thought the weight limit on the internal flights may be pretty meagre. I have not had final paperwork from JY yet so perhaps they will enlighten us.

Yes, pity we are not staying at same place overnight but perhaps you would be the one to wear the red carnation in the morning??

Kind regards,

Valerie

Hi Valerie & Daisy

Your luggage apart from hand luggage is all dealt with for you on all flights within Burma.  The cases are collected from outside your room and taken to the relevant airport and booked in.  It then arrives at the hotel the other end - just be aware that the internal flight allowance is less than Malaysian airlines but it does mean you have some spare capacity for the flight home!!

Have a fantastic time- it is a fabulous country and holiday

Thank you Jonah, good news re luggage being collected on our behalf.  I have just received final itinerary and see that 1 flight leaves at 06.00am, ugh, but I am sure it will all be worthwhile............just wondering when we sleep!

Kind regards, Jonah,

Valerie

Shame we only have 20kg, will have to pack with plenty of thought. Look forward to seeing you both in 2 weeks, will be in the lounge with my red carnation. Hahaha

Well, 06.00 starts are ok, but to catch a flight that departs at 06.00??  Fingers crossed the airport is quite close.  By the way, Jonah,  are there Pharmacies or something akin in the cities?

Regards, and thanks for your help,

Valerie

Hi Valerie

Happy to help with any queries.  Yes there are pharmacies and I am sure the local guide will help you with anything you need.  However if it is something you know you are likely to need I would advise taking it with you as then you will know it is the right preparation.  I always carry a mini pharmacy with me when I travel!!!
