Hi Chris,
I'm sorry to see that, having read my review, you got the impression that I thought all the hotels were of a poor standard. Let me summarise again very briefly what I thought about the hotels on this tour.
Dallas Hyatt - a lovely hotel in a very good central location next to the Reunion Tower.
Fort Worth Holiday Inn- poor in almost every respect; customer service, location, plastic plates and cutlery, no bar.
Austin Hyatt - a nice hotel (smaller than that at Dallas) but location rather isolated with only two restaurants to choose from within walking distance. Having said that, the food was great in the one restaurant we used.
San Antonio El Tropicano- a nice hotel with central location although I understand that 2 ladies asked to be moved to different rooms - not sure of the reason for that.
Houston Crowne Plaza - a lovely hotel with very spacious rooms and public areas.
So, the hotel in Fort Worth was the one with problems, all of the others were fine with the hotels in Dallas and Houston being the best.
I would also add that I have since been contacted directly by JY, who have acknowledged that the FW hotel was not up to their normal standard, whilst assuring me that they are looking at alternative accommodation in Fort Worth for future departures.
I hope that this allays any fears that you may have, hopefully the FW hotel will have been replaced by more suitable accommodation by September, or at least will have put improvements in place with regard to the service they offer.
The tour itself is great so I hope that you take the plunge and book it - I promise that you'll have a great time!
Mike
