Hi Julia,

I got my holiday info pack for Jordan 1 Nov today, but there were no details of optional excursions - are there any on this tour? Or are they being delayed until the final documentation (I'm wondering if this is the case in that maybe JY are still trying to source a good alternative to the defunct 4x4 Wadi Rum tour?!).

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Pleased to hear that you've had your documentation for this trip!

For the Jordan holiday, I understand that there are no optional excursions.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hello Bob,

I do not remember any extra tours on this trip as it was all included back in 2010, then again we did cover Sinai and the Pyramids too so a day off was a luxury. Did not get many only a couple of hours :)

Loved Jordan, such a magical place with Petra on my bucket list. I hope you get to Wadi Rum and the Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Still have the book by T E Lawrence. If you get to Aqaba they have 2 flags flying including that of the flag at the time in 1917.

Hi Jan,

Many thanks for your comments - it looks like we will get to the edge of Wadi Rum by coach but no further unless JY can source an alternative excursion by then! I'm very much looking forward to the tour, it gets great write ups.

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi Bob

When I went to Jordan in September 2009, we too did not have any optional excursions. Like Jan said, there wasn't much time for any. Aquaba was not included then, but we did have an option of extending the stay by 3 days at the end of the tour at Dead Sea Marriott. Would have loved to go to Aquaba - perhaps one day I can return.

Enjoy Jordan.

Hi Julia,

Another question! I was looking at another tour operator who does a similar Jordan tour to JY and they offer a "yellow submarine" excursion in Aqaba - a trip in a semi submersible boat to view the amazing tropical fish and coral formations there. Is it possible for our TM or local guide or the hotel in Aqaba to organise this? It sounds like a great experience and seeing as we have a free day in Aqaba it would be great to do it!

Many thanks for looking into this for me,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Sorry for the delay - we contacted our overseas agent for this one.

Our agent would be able to arrange the Yellow Submarine trip for you in resort, its about 1.5 hours and operates at 9am and 11am. You will need to book (rather than just turn up at the time).

The price would be confirmed in resort, but I understand it's approximately $40.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

Thanks a million for finding out about this - that sounds wonderful and I would love to do it! Hopefully I'll be able to persuade a few of my fellow travellers to come along as well!

Thanks again,

Bob

I am inclined to be green with envy Bob. I read Seven Pillars of Wisdom when I was quite young and Lawrence remains my favourite movie even after all these years.

I will get there. I will!! 🙂

Hello All,

Yellow submarine? There was a glass flat bottom boat that some of my group went on from the hotel. I missed this as a lady had fallen at Wadi Rum, being a nurse I was worried about her head injury and she was very repetitive, should have gone to hospital!

I am sure they said there was an Italian tank down there amongst all the coral. So annoyed that I missed this :(
