It is often possible to check in online these days. My suggestion would be to wait until you have your booking reference from us then go to the airline's website and see what is possible.
On the plus side, you won't have to queue as much and you will get the seat you want.
On the downside, it will mean that you don't get to sit with the group, and if the tour manager is there to meet you at check-in you won't get to say hello at that point.
I don't think it would save you a huge amount of time - perhaps 15-20 minutes.
