Hi Everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of you who have posted messages about the 1st time you travelled alone.

I lost my husband last year and decided to book this as its my 65th birthday this year. Now I'm not sure I've done the right thing - I'm frightened . Never travelled alone before.

But then after reading the great messages from you all I feel reassured that its going to be ok.

THank you

I look forward to seeing thoses of you who are going to Jordan in September

Hi Ritz

I did the trip to Jordan last September (my 4th with JY) and it was amazing - I hadn’t realised what a great country it is as my reason for booking was to see Petra. We visited so many interesting places and the scenery is great too. The people are really friendly as well - we had a super local guide as well as a brilliant tour manager. I’m sure you’ll have a great time and meet some lovely people.

Hi SharonT

Thank you for sharing your adventure with me. Can I ask how you found Wadi Rum ? Was it good.

Yes its Petra I want to see but all the other sites too.

Great to hear you had a good time

Thank you

I've don 3 trips with JY and just booked a 4th. Don't worry, everyone is solo - you'll have a really great time, meet some nice friendly people and see lots!!! You have a tour manager to help you with anything you're not sure about, and super local guides. Just enjoy.

Hi Ritz

Wadi Rum was spectacular - amazing sunset, night sky and sunrise! I would have loved an extra night in the camp as we didn’t get a chance to see the desert proper: we arrived early evening and left after breakfast the following day. I’d been hoping to fit in a camel ride or a 4WD tour to see more of the dunes etc. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the (almost finished!) domes as the original room I was allocated was dirty and had a broken loo seat so I can’t complain *too* much!! I don’t know if the option to visit the observatory is still offered - most of my group didn’t enjoy it and thought it poor value for money so it may well have been dropped. As a scientist by training i have to say I really liked the talk and being able to view the sky through a proper, powerful telescope.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ritz

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. Firstly you won't be alone as I'm sure he will be in your heart with you. Secondly you will only be possibly alone on your trip to the airport on arrival look out for the JY rep and once you get to the lounge look out for the JY labels and go and introduce yourself as none of us bite and from thereon in you will have as much company as you want. You will make friends during the trip and they may possibly live in your area so it doesn't stop there. JY do solo holidays the best and look after you from start to finish. So all you have to do is go and enjoy. Have fun. Paul

Hi Ritz, I am in the same boat as you, but we have to be brave and carry on, as that is what our husband's would want.  I am going in June to Pompeii and Sorrento and although a little apprehensive am looking forward to it.
