Hi, Ive just registered on here, never done any solo travelling and thinking of starting off small and doing a weekend break either oct/nov. Are these weekends popular or do people generally jump straight in and book holidays? Any feed back will be welcome. Thanks.

We've all been newbies at some stage, don't know much about the weekends I jumped in with a America trip first time (last year) and really enjoyed it. Have since done 3 other trips (2 in europe and one in america).

Hi Vicki

I've never travelled solo but joined this site a few months ago after a work colleague used JY for a holiday last year and was very positive about the whole experience. For what it's worth I couldn't see the point of a discovery weekend since the chances of meeting the same people on your chosen holiday are slim to say the least, and to a certain extent I'd guess how well everyone gets on is key to whether you have a good time or not. Personally I've jumped straight in and booked my first trip, however I've chosen a holiday which is relatively short in both time (7 days) and distance (Austria) rather than a long haul.

I'm sure others will have different views but hope this helps!

Michael.

Hi Vicki

I am a relatively newbie, only joined this year. I have booked a Discovery Weekend to Leeds in August to get the feel of going solo. We are all apprehensive to start with but reading all the feedbacks there is no need to worry.

The holidays seem to cater for all ages. I'm no spring chicken, more like an old cockerel but if I can take the plunge I'm sure anyone else can. Nothing ventured, nothing gained so they say. You should meet different groups of travellers on different holidays so hopefully broaden your circle of friends.

Happy holidays to you.

Thank you to all for your replies, very useful and pushing me more towards just booking a main holiday...micheal1, good thinking, short haul and 7 days sounds right.

Hi Vicky.

I jumped straight in four years ago. And I had already done 3 trips before doing a discovery weekend. The discovery weekends are worth doing. As they are very interesting weekends with lots of information and re assurances from the Just You travel staff. We have all been in exactly the same position as you at one point. And the first step can be daunting at times.. In a few weeks time I will be venturing onto my 12th trip when I go off to Austria. Which would be a very good first trip.

All the best and enjoy your travelling

Regards Andy

Hi Vicki

Glad to be of some help, all of us newbies have to try and encourage each other! :)

I hope you enjoy your Nottingham weekend and are encouraged to book a main holiday soon, I must admit I'm somewhat nervous but very excited about my trip.

Michael.

Hi Andy, thanks for the feedback, I considered the Austrian trip, looks lovely, but settled for the weekend in notts in sept. I do have every intention of going further afield in the near future. Vicki.

Hi I thought of doing a weekend myself but reckon it,s cheaper just to plunge in and put that money towards a holiday. I'm looking for someone to link up with and join a JY holiday. If you think you might be interested let me know and I can let you know more about myself. I would like to go somewhere with sunshine would be my priority as we get so little in this country! Ella.
