Hi,
I'd like to do the Japan trip next year, but I can't decide whether to go in April or May. I don't want to go when it's hot and although the weather in April looks cooler than May, I'm wondering if it'll be too cold...but then the pics of the cherry blossom in April look amazing!!
Has anyone got any thoughts, that'll help me make up my mind?
Thanks advance,
Kate
Hi Kate
One immediate thought: does it have to be April or May? JY also go in October.
I went to Japan last November to experience the autumn colours - which were stunningly beautiful and, to my eye, at least as good as the cherry blossom, if not better - and the autumn season lasts much longer than the cherry blossom season, so one has a better chance of catching it. The autumn weather in November was nearly perfect, with only two short showers, lots of sunshine and wonderful views of Mount Fuji (not guaranteed, of course!). I've not been in October, but I would imagine that the weather then would be at least as good, if not consistently better.
I am not sure whether the autumn colour extends down to central Honshu by the second half of October but, if it does, this may be worth considering - at any rate, the October 2016 JY departure looks to be very popular, with only one place left for this year.
Whenever you choose to go, you'll enjoy Japan, it's a fascinating place.
