Hi all,

I am currently single and have just turned 30! There are so many places i would like to visit and I'm fed up of waiting to meet someone to come with me but I'm quite shy and nervous about travelling alone. I would love to meet new people, are people open and friendly enough? What is the age range on these trips?

Is anyone going anywhere in the summer this year?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Leanne

Hello Leanne,

Everyone is nervous at first, I was back in 2010, I have done lots of holidays with JY since and will be booking another one soon to Italy, at 30 you will be at the younger end of the age range which is 20s to 80s, and you will meet lots of new friendly people and some will be nervous first time single travellers.

Just pick a holiday you won't regret it.

Dave.

Hi Leanne

I have been travelling with JY since 2010 and have done five long haul trips and one trip to Apulia in Italy. I have another trip to Croatia booked for early May. I have a travel wish list which I am working my way through. Travelling with JY is a,safe way to travel and will give you the opportunity to meet new people. Age range tends to be From 30s to 80s and I have found that groups usually mix well. If you have a specific holiday in mind suggest you post questions and someone from the forum will assist. You can also try the review section of the forum.

Hope this helps

Hi Leanne

Welcome to the world of JY, I have been in 11 tours since 2006 from Austria, Africa and NZ and many in the USA..

I have a husband but touring is not for him so I go alone so to speak. I tend to go for the full on sight seeing tours so you are kept busy and see so much. They are great fun, and yes people mix really well, there are normally more ladies than men on a tour, you can have up to 35 people or you might have a small group I like about 25 so there is a good mix of people, I would say you would be a young one at just 30 but age is just a number I have met 80 year olds that are young at heart. I am not doing a tour this year due to family wedding, there will be a new brochure out in April, so it might be worth you waiting a few more weeks..

I hope you give it a go if you have any other questions just ask.

Hi Leanne

I'm 37 and have been on a couple of holidays with JY now. Like you I'm currently single but didn't see why that should stop me seeing the world and I have a very long bucket list I'm working my way through!

You're likely to be one of the youngest on any trip but I've never found that to be a problem and there have been plenty of older ladies and gents with much more stamina than me for staying up in the bar at night!

If you pick one of the city break or tour holidays you'll find there's so much going on you won't have time to feel nervous. My advice would be to pick somewhere you really want to go as you'll have that in common with the other travellers. Everyone I've met has been friendly and although you'll inevitably hit it off with some more than others we're generally all in the same situation so you can sit and chat to anyone.

Hope this helps, I'm off to Spain in July after 2 trips to the US (Heart and Soul and Yosemite, Grand Canyon etc - both amazing!!) and then looking at something long haul either late this year or early next. I'm sure whatever you pick you'll have an amazing time!

Hi Leanne

I took my first trip with Just You only last year at 34. Age really is just a number and the group were really friendly.

My recommendation is that you find something that interests you and go for it.

I now have my next trip booked. Greece this time on Athens, Olympia and the Corinth coast.

I went to Pompeii last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. You will find that you are never alone unless you want to be and there is usually someone that wants to do the same as you.

Nerves are normal. I didnt really settle until we got to the hotel. Find something that suits you and go for it. You won't regret it I'm sure.

The community is great place to start. Not everyone is on it but for my last trip I managed to hear from a few people travelling with me.

Hope you find a holiday to suit you.

Kind regards and happy travels

Sue

Hi Leanne

All I would say is Go for it - life is too short. Pick a destination you always wanted to visit and go ahead and book it. Travelling with Just You is a pleasure. You do not have to worry about anything and you will be travelling with like minded people of all ages. You can either join in or do something on your own if that is what you prefer. There is no pressure at all. I can guarantee that you will have lots of fun and will want to book another Just You holiday on your return. If you want to 'test the water' then go for a short break before taking the plunge and booking a long haul trip. My first Just You trip was in 2009 to Jordan and I chose it as I always wanted to see Petra and I have not looked back since. I have a long list of Just You holidays which I want to do and am having fun in deciding where to go next!

Regards

Jaya

I'm 39 and have been on the classic cities of Italy tour and the Florida tour. I'm going to Mallorca on 7th June. I've always found the people friendly and have made some good friends along the way. You will find that you have such a great time you won't have time to feel shy or nervous and the rep will make sure you're not on your own unless you want to be.  Go on pluck up the courage. You won't regret it.
