Still having my love affair with American touring holidays and although next week I'll be on the "Heart & Soul" trip I'm turning my attention to next year, Will be certainly looking more seriously on my return watch this space).

Looking at three in particular but just cant decide at this stage :-

Big Texan Adventure

Yosemite, grand canyon and classic california

Americas Historic Trail

Anyone else looking at these trips ?

Hi Mick, I'm also keen on US holidays and did the National Parks and LBH trip earlier this year. Will be interested to hear what you think of the "Heart & Soul" trip when you return. Not interested in the Yosemite and California trips as have been to this part of the US a lot. Would really like Will and his team to look at other less well trodden US areas; also trips including some of the time skiing.

The 2 trips I have been looking at are the Big Texan Adventure and the Historic Trail. Like you not booked yet, on the Jordan trip next week, will start looking at what I want to do next year when I get back. (But also for next year interested in Vietnam, Calabria (+maybe some other Italy destinations) and the walking holiday in Nice in the new brochure). Can't decide.

Thought the Texan holiday was improved when it was refreshed recently and has gone higher up on my wishlist, with its 5 2-night stopovers and concentrating just on Texas, I like it much better than before. Having done the NP and LBH trip (which was great) where there were a lot of one-night stopovers, realise that I really appreciated the 2-night stays and there is not quite so much bussing on the Texas trip. However, when I rang to get flight times (so I could factor in what my options/costs would be in travelling from Heathrow) the May holiday has already been pulled from the schedules. So would have to look at the options in the Autumn.

So, the Historic East trip looks like the favourite now and maybe in June. Was initially disappointed this trip didn't follow the route of the Travelsphere alternative and wouldn't be going to Atlanta and South Carolina. But haven't been to Nashville or Dollywood so I guess that's OK. (Will have to try to get to Atlanta and South Carolina some other time.)

Hi Mick

I too am in love with the USA after our Route 66 trip. Went to Florida at Easter this year doing the whole Disney experience. Going back there next May and I'm also looking at another USA trip next September or October but as yet not sure which one to book.

Hope you enjoy your Heart and Soul trip. Sounds like a real good tour.

Hi Mick,

I think the Yosemite tour sounds great, especially if you haven't done the Golden West tour. If I hadn't done the GW tour three years ago, the new Yosemite tour would be very high up my list. Like you I did the National Parks tour last year and absolutely loved it - the scenery was out of this world. The Texan Adventure doesn't really appeal to me much, although I like the idea of visiting Southfork! I take the opposite view to Kerry, I think it's a pity New Orleans/Louisiana has been chopped from the itinerary.

The Historical Trail sounds interesting although I've done Nashville (Grand Old Opry) and Dollywood before - Kerry I'm sure you'd love them as they were good fun although I'm not a big music fan!

With so many US tours on offer at the moment, I'm sure JY will be chopping and changing them a good bit over the next few years, so I wait with interest to see what other new tours they come up with. I still want to do Route 66 at some stage and I'll be interested in what you think of the Heart and Soul tour (although I really don't like Blues or Jazz so I'm in two minds about this one!).

Happy decision making!

Hi Katy,

Like you I've done parts of the Yosemite/california holiday but the thing that appeals is can fly from Manchester and its 16 days.

Did the Nat parks/LBH last year its a good holiday.

I'm trying to do an American Tour each year but its great to have options, always new ones to choose from so never know some of the areas you fancy may appear for 2016.

If i do Texas would go for the April date, have done parts of Texas independantly but not Dallas or Fort Worth and I want to do them. Love San Antonio and want to go back, also been to Houston but not the Space Centre so thats a must.

As for the History trail, Nashville is fine was there many years ago but not the Grand ole opry so need to visit and think thats where the hotel is. Rest of it would be new for me until get to Philly, not my favorite city but love the Cheesesteak.

Bob,

Shame you are not with us next week, unlike you I'm a big music fan (especially Blues) and got some great Clubs lined up in the cities i know (chicago & St Louis) for those that fancy tagging along.I 'm sure you would be converted

Saying all that think the holiday has much more than just the music, 4 great cities in their own right.

Have a great time Mick!

If I thought that I could stand up to the constant "go" of a tour I would love to do the Historic East tour. Pity that it is bypassing Gettysburg but you need a good few days there to do it justice. I've done bits of Pennsylvania but not Philly.

And when I saw the Yosemite tour I thought of you!

Hi Bob,

I wasn't keen on jazz either until, years ago, under protest, I was taken to Ronnie Scotts in London. I was converted inside 10 minutes!

Hello All,

I have done Boston, New York and Toronto tick.

Memphis and New Orleans tick, not Chicago or St Louis so I see that as another tick next week, plus my collection of badges and my eldest daughters' collection of shot glasses will go up 2 more from Hard Rock Cafe. Plus I must get her a puck from St Louis, hopefully we will be in time to watch the ice hockey

Yosemite is still on my list, have never ridden a horse ( camel and donkey yes) so the ranch holiday is out. Never been to the West coast either. Would like to see Vancouver and Lake Louise, unless like my daughter, Lake Louise was covered in mist when she went there :dodgy:

Should have been to Houston, Hurricane Ike put paid to that. Have been to Orlando, the month before the Space Shuttle went on view at Cape Canavaral- very annoying. Wonder what will happen next week :P

Hiya Mick,

I've booked the Big Texan Adventure for April 2015. It will be my 1st solo holiday, so really looking forward to it, especially Southfork, and the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas.

Hopefully the first of many American holidays to come for me! So much to see and do.

Hi Mark,

Well if i decide on Texas think it maybe the April date I go for, so we may meet. The good thing about the Texas trip is that all the cities offer something very different. From modern city (Dallas) to cowboy town (Fort Worth) to music City (Austin) to mexican culture (San Antonio).

Would be good to meet you Mick, and you too Paul if either of you decide to go for the Texan Adventure.

Can't wait to see the Stockyards and Rodeo as I'm a wannabe Cowboy :D

Hopefully catch a bit of Country Music in Austin too.

Think visiting The Alamo would be quite moving, and the 750,000 Bats at Lady Bird Lake.

Hi Mick!

I'm looking at the Texas holiday for next September, the 15th. It looks brilliant, really want to see Dallas and Southfork.

Also America's Historic Trail looks good, very interesting itinerary. Been to Nashville on a tour last year but only had one night there so would like to go back and visit the Grand Ole Opry. Would like to go to Washington and Philadelphia!

Dawn,

If i did one of these trips in September it would likely be the Historic Trail. However looking at lots of possibilities (spoilt for choice) for next year but will start giving it more thought after the Heart & Soul trip.

See you in the Heathrow lounge on monday

Hi Mick, Mark and Dawn

I'm looking at the Big Texan Adventure on September 15th. It fits well with my work pattern. Still unsure as yet. I thinking going to book the time off work in case them days get booked up and then decide. I can always swap my days leave if I change my mind.

I've got the time off work needed for the Bug Texan Adventure on 15th September 2015. Still unsure about booking it though. Plenty of time to make up my mind.

Now I'm spoilt for choice - I had intended to do Heart and Soul next May, but am now wondering about the Historic Trail in June instead. Both have definite must do places - it may well be that Washington will be the decider for me. If anyone reading this has done Heart and Soul, I'd be very glad to see a review

Hope you are keeping well.

I am looking at the Big Texan adventure and the Florida trips, mainly so that I can visit the space centers at Cape Canaveral and Houston! On my bucket list!

Did Mexico this year so am considering Ankor Wat next year, plus would like to go to Jordan and have heard good reports about the Peru trip from fellow traveller's.

Decisions, decisions, got to keep working to pay for the holidays.

Regards
