Hi There

I am so looking forward to my trip to India. Its my first time and am flying from Edinburgh with British Airways. I have this concern my luggage will go missing! Is anyone else travelling from Edinburgh?

I practice Mindfulness and wondered if anyone else is into meditation (I also practiced the TM technique)???

I have read some good reviews and am sure it will all go well.

Hi Anna

It would be rare for your case to be lost and even if it misses your flight, there are so many flights every day it shouldn't take long to catch you up. Pack a spare outfit in your hand luggage just in case your suitcase gets delayed which should help your peace of mind.

India is a fantastic country and I'm sure you will have an amazing holiday.

Hi

I did this trip in 2012. I travelled to Heathrow from Edinburgh and had no problems with luggage. Checked luggage straight through on the way home and again no problems.

This is a great trip and I am sure you will have a marvellous time.

Hi I did this tour two years ago and it is fantastic! However I doubt mindfulness or anything else will help your luggage!! But rest assured it is rare for luggage to go missing these days - you could take some essentials and a change of clothes in your hand luggage as a precaution. Hope you have a brilliant time; this tour is really hectic and India is a full-on assault on the senses. My highlights - the Taj Mahal (looked even better than I thought it would) and having a close up encounter with a tiger in Ranthambore!

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I am going on this trip next week 17th Feb and would be grateful of any tips.

I am struggling with what to pack! Would a winter coat be needed i.e. on the early morning trips and the Ganges evening trip? Also where would you recommend exchanging currency?

You are clearly a well seasoned traveller so I appreciate your input!

Kind Regards,

Penelope

Hi Penelope,

The weather was brilliant when we were there - you won't need a winter coat! I'd say a fleece or something similar would be enough on the early morning tours. I generally wore t-shirts and shorts. You'll be given a sarong or shawl and slippers when entering some of the holy places. You can change currency at the hotels without any difficulty. This is a really hectic tour and be prepared for lots of noise, litter, stray dogs and bad smells at times! But it is all well worth it, I'm so glad I went.

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi

I did this trip in October 2012. Weather was pleasantly warm and only needed a light cardigan for early morning trips. Not sure what temperatures you will encounter in February. Suggest either a computer search or BBC weather on teletext for answer. I changed sterling initially at bureau de change in Delhi airport and at hotels throughout the tour. ATM s are few and far between and were a challenge to use!

Enjoy this great trip

Hi Lesley,

many thanks for that information which was very helpful. Packing ladies clothing is a challenge! I have packed leggings and long tops to play safe and buy a few things when there.

Kind regards,

Penelope

Hi Sally

Thank you so much. That has helped. I have travelled alone so much and don't know why I feel this way. It is going to be great.

Hi Bob

Thank you for your reply. I was only hoping to catch up with anyone else who meditates. It is suchful a joyful experience with other people and to practice in India is going to be wonderful. Thank you for your advice and yes I will be taking a change of clothes and hope to be shopping.

It is going to be a wonderful experience.

Hello Anna,

I too am going on this trip, but flying from Glasgow with B.A. I have previously gone from Edinburgh to China and Australia with J.Y. and have had no problems with luggage being lost or delayed. I am so looking forward to the trip.

See you in Heathrow.
