Hello all,

I need help and advice please from anyone who has been on the South African tour with the Zambia add-on. I am getting conflicting info from lots of sources as to whether I need to get a yellow fever vaccination or if a waiver certificate is sufficient. Has anyone been on this tour with the add-on and only had the waiver certificate? If it's not absolutely necessary I would rather not be vaccinated as I'm allergic to the carrier in the vaccine. Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi I did this tour in 2011 and a couple of those over 70 did the Zambia add-on with just a waiver as they were advised against getting the vaccine, so once you have an official doctor's waiver letter/form you should be ok I reckon. This is a fantastic tour, I hope you have an amazing time!

Cheers,

Bob

I did the tour last October and had a waiver certificate from the doctor and it was fine. They just looked at it and said OK. I was exempt as I had had the vaccination years before and was still covered. It didn't cost me anything. It is a fabulous holiday you will love it. Tricia

We are aware that there is a worldwide shortage of the yellow fever vaccine. This was caused by a manufacturing problem back in September 2013. Stocks are increasing on a daily basis and supplies are expected to be back to normal by April 2014. We do still advise that all customers obtain the vaccination if they can find a medical practice that has stock.

If any customer is unable to obtain the vaccine or is advised by a medical practitioner not to have the vaccination, they will need to get an exemption certificate to be shown upon request.

For more information about Yellow fever and to find your local vaccination centre we suggest visiting www.nathnac.org/yellowfevercentres.aspx?comingfrom=country

Hi

I did this tour in March 2012 with the add on. I had a yellow fever vaccination as advised - my GP surgery is also a Yellow Fever Vaccine Centre. At SA airport check in staff asked me to show my certificate.

Hi

I was one of those on the same tour as Bob and I had a yellow fever waiver/letter from Doctor. It was fine. Staff just took a copy of it. Go for the trip. It was fantastic!!!!!!!!!
