There won't be many posts about Slovenia, Syliva, because it is a new holiday in the latest brochure. I think Marks was lobbying for it so he might be able to give you some information about the country. In the meantime I suggest you Google "Slovenia" and see what comes up - I've done this already and found helpful information about temperatures etc.

Yes, I know it is a new tour but there have been some references to it in connection with posts about Croatia. Perhaps someone who has been on one of these can give a me bit of local information, rather than the general which comes up with search engines.

It's a long time ago but I remember stunning scenery and kind friendly people. The food was good (quite Austrian based) and prices then were very cheap. I doubt that is the case now though as Slovenia is in the E.U.

Yes Mark has been lobbying and I thoroughly support him in it. I am so pleased that JY have decided to include it in the brochure for next year.

As for temperatures? Well I was right up in the mountains and had the great experience of having a foot of snow overnight on my birthday in early May. 🙂

I went to Lake Bled with JY last year at Christmas. Slovenia is a lovely country and the people are friendly. From memory, it is fairly cheap. The tour included a day trip to Ljubljana, a visit to the Postonja caves and a trip to Piran. A few of my fellow travellers went off for a day to Lake Bohinj and said it was more beautiful than Lake Bled, although this lake is stunning in its own right!

I would encourage you to visit Slovenia before it becomes too touristy.

A few of my fellow travellers went off for a day to Lake Bohinj and said it was more beautiful than Lake Bled, although this lake is stunning in its own right!

I would encourage you to visit Slovenia before it becomes too touristy.

It is now a toss up between Italy's Cilento Coast or Slovenia, since the piggy bank won't stretch as far as both.

The Cilento coast will probably be similar to Calabria, which is a bit further south, is absolutely superb and practically devoid of tourists. Go there before the rest of the world catches on to it.

Whereas Slovenia will probably be geographically similar to the Austrian Tyrol, where I am going in June - decisions, decisions, decisions.

I will only say that Cilento is wonderful. Superb hotel, excellent food and some good trips. I have been twice! But don't let me put you off Slovenia as it is lovely!

I am thinking about going to Slovenia next year, but there do not appear to be many posts about it on the forum. Has anyone been, any information would be appreciated.

I am also thinking about going to Slovenia next September but its between that and Croatia, I would love to do both but will have to choose one or the other, they both sound great and I don't think you can go wrong on either
