Hi

I'm thinking about booking Costa de la Luz for October and notice that there is a choice of rooms, with supplements for side or front sea view. Any advice from anyone who has done this tour? Is it worth paying the £80 supplement? Are the standard rooms at the back and with no balcony?

Thanks

Jean

The advice I would give, is that I did this holiday last October.........and I feel I should warn you that the weather wasn't that brilliant. A lot of hazy sunshine and some heavy rain too. The sun did however come out properly on the last 3 days. It's a beautiful hotel, and so is the very large beach - food and wine very plentiful too! My room didn't have a balcony, but it overlooked the pool area - rooms are very comfortable.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. I seem to have two threads on this topic as this one took a couple of days to appear so I posted it again. Sorry!

Dave, thanks for the advice re the weather. It's a chance you take isn't it. I'm not very good in very hot weather so tend to travel at the beginning and end of the seasons.

Mary, I haven't booked yet. Still thinking about it. But if I go I will be flying from Glasgow. It's one of only two holidays which go direct from here so it's a big attraction! I've been twice now with JY and really enjoyed both of them. I understand totally what you're feeling, but you'll be fine, honest!

Di, I hope you enjoy, and look forward to your review.

Hi Di

You can fill your water bottle from the water cooler machines that were in the restaurant. I too drink a lot of water. I also boughtg a huge bottle (not sure how many gallons!) from the supermarket and used to fill up a bottle from it whilst going on excursions. I hardly drink so not sure if cocktails too were free - sangria was free.

Thank you Jaya Good idea will get a huge bottle and top up. I am the same as you hardly drink and don't want to end up with a hangover!!!

I went on this trip a couple of years ago and got a room with a balcony without paying extra! However some others in the group had rooms with no balconies and very small windows which were quite high up making the room very dark and with no view. From experience I would always pay for an upgrade if possible - it is nice to be able to sit on your balcony with a G & T! this was a great trip and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Hi I did this trip last month (May) and thoroughly enjoyed it. My room had no balcony, just the windows.. but then again I wasn't in the room that long, only to sleep and get ready. I spent most of my time on the trips, by the pool or in the bar on an evening. It's personal preference, but having paid for upgrades in the past.. I find I don't really get the most out of it. If I was staying at the hotel and not venturing out, then perhaps I would book an upgrade.

It's a superb trip and if you get Jackie as the Tour Manager, she is wonderful.

Hi Jean

I have just returned from Costa de la Luz where I had booked a front sea view room. All I can say is that it absolutely WAS worth the extra money. I had a stunning view down over the pool and out to sea.

Either way you will have a fantastic trip!
