Would just like to thank everyone that has posted for giving me the confidence to book a discovery weekend and hopefully more holidays afterwards.

For the last 12 years holidays have been a regular feature of my life but after losing my lovely hubby the prospect of going it alone was terrifying and tagging along with family and friends who are all in couples only seems marginally more appealing than locking myself in a cupboard with a sun lamp and a sand pit for a week!!!

Have no idea what I am doing with this posting lark but sure I will get the hang of it, although this is the second time I have tried to do this and have no idea where the first one went !!!!

Thanks again

Welcome to you Sarah

I am sure you will have a good time on the discovery weekend, and I hope that it gives you the confidence to book a main holiday, have you had a look at the couple of video links on here from Lovely Lesley and myself Cindy (Nixon) might answer some questions on there for you.

You will be fine I am sure. It is a very hard thing for you ladies to do after losing your hubbys I have so much respect for you all. I hope you have a dream destination and I hope you reach that dream.. Good Luck

Cindy

Hello there

Firstly I am sorry for your loss. I am glad that you have plucked up the courage and booked your first Just You holiday. One can feel like a spare wheel when holidaying with couples. With a company like this you will find that there are many people in the same boat as you. I have been on the Pyramids and Nile Cruise, Northern Cyprus and am off to Turkey in September. Hope the discovery weekend will wet your appetite for adventures further afield. Oh the forum posting can take a little time getting used to! Good luck for your future travels. Mel

Hi Sarah, Well done for booking your discovery weekend, you won`t regret it. I am in exactly the same situation as you and can relate to everything you say. Being with couples is OK but I often feel like a "spare part", and sitting at home feeling sorry for myself is pointless. I have just returned from my first JY holiday in Andalucia and really believe it was a turning point for me, the start of a new chapter. The group were lovely. Aged from about 30 up to about 85, we all got on so well. I will definitely be booking another one next year - not sure where yet, the choice is endless. Good luck. Let me know what you decide. Best wishes, Margaret

P.S. Don`t worry about the computer skills, I am technically challenged too. We have to take on a lot of new challenges now, but get stronger all the time.

Also, watch the interview with Lesley, it is inspiring.

Hi Sarah, I'm new to all this stuff too. I've been on my own since 2005 and thinking about trying a singles holiday for some years now. I almost booked a Discovery Weekend but then somehow found the courage to jump straight in the deep end! I've just, this morning, booked for the America Golden West tour on April 15, 2013! I live in Newcastle and scared stiff about finding my way around Heathrow never mind the US 🙂. Hope you enjoy your Discovery Weekend - who knows, might see you on the America tour!!

Hello Sarah

Welcome and enjoy your discovery weekend. I am sure this will encourage you to book a holiday. You will have a great time with Just You and will not have to lock yourself in a cupboard with a sun lamp and a sand pit!!

I have just come back from my 3rd Just You holiday and have a 4th booked for October.

Best wishes

Jaya

As someone new to Just You I have been inspired by Cindy Nixon's video and reading the messages. I would like to travel somewhere / anywhere before the year is out, as I feel in desperate need of a holiday (this being my first solo). I was wondering if there were any 'buddies' local to London area wanting to travel in the next few months?

Hi Cindy

I have been inspired by your messages and video and would like to add you as a buddy being of similar age, although I too agree age is just a number. I am local to the London area and would like to travel abroad (solo) with a buddy??? before the year is out. Apprehensive...

Thank you for your kind comments it was really a good thing to do as I am sure it answers many questions that people have on here.

These holidays are really good and from them I have made holiday buddies so when a new brochure comes out we get in touch and see who fancys which trip so some times I travel on my OWN and sometimes with some one I have met on a previouse tour. Which for me is another plus to have a travelling friend. I also still travel on my own.

Juts pick a holiday that that you fancy and go for it. YOU will be fine I am sure.
