Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and wonder if anyone can give me some advice ? I was widowed just over 2 years ago. I have never been away on my own. My wife and I travelled quite extensively but always together. I am nervous at the thought of taking a singles holiday. Is there anyone in a similar situation who can give me any 'pointers' please ?

regards,

Tex781

Hi I was widowed 18 months ago and this is my first trip as a single traveller so I am feeling a little nervous as well.I feel sure that there must be quite a lot of travellers in the same situation.

Hi Tex,

My advice is just go for it and just remember virtually everyone is nervous on their first JY holiday. The bottom line is that we all have things in common, we have a need to travel alone and want a good holiday.

Hi I've been on 2 JY hols and on both there were many people recently widowed or travelling solo for the first time, so you will both meet many people in the same boat. Everyone is really friendly, so don't worry, you will have a great time! Just ask Olly or other travellers for any info you need to plan your trip e.g. travel adaptors, money for optional excursions etc. to make sure you are not caught unprepared! So take the plunge, you won't regret it!

Welcome Tex,

You have no need to worry we have all been in your psosition travelling alone before. I am an old hand now have done 6 tours with 2 more booked, so I hope you give JY a try, the holidays are very good and the people mix well, there most probaly will be more ladies to men ratio, and age range can be very varied lat 20's to 80's most around 50-70 I have been using JY for 4 years and am now 52. If you want to know anything else just keep asking questions .

Hi Tex & Denise,

I know the feeling - been there, done that - but this is where everything changes for the better.

I went on my first JY trip for Xmas 2007 and haven't looked back.

Oh there are so many wonderful places for you both to go and see - you will be spoiled for choice. The World is your oyster.

No need to be nervous - your tour manager is there to take care of you and will make sure you are not left out. You will meet lots of new friends of all ages and wonder why you ever felt nervous.

So, as Mick says - Go for it!!! You will be glad you did. There is bound to be somewhere that really takes your fancy. I can guarantee you will have a great time - so Enjoy!

I have just come back from China - Wow how great was that.

Off Walking in the Ahr Valley next month then Sorrento in September.

Just waiting for the Christmas & New Year brochure now.

Good Luck.

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

Go for it. I went on my first JY holiday to South Africa last year and it was wonderful. All ages from 30 to around 80 and we all had fun together and shared photos when we got back. I am going on another JY holiday in June. It is great that you all meet in an airport lounge and get get to know each other before you go.
