Following my recent post asking what holidays people would like JY to do "Route 66" seems a popular choice and it was suggested we started a petition.

JY sister company already does the trip and of course we could do that and pay the single supplement but to be honest travelling with couples doesn't appeal to many of us.

http://www.travelsphere.co.uk/destinations/north-america/northern-america/united-states/route-66/

Looking at travelspheres trip and paying for sole occupency of a single room the 16 day trip would cost around £2,300.

So lets see how many of us would like to holiday along this famous route and maybe if there is enough of us JY will take note and add it to next years brochure.

Count me in.

:DGo on mate, I'm with you. I'll start saving now! Come on JY. It can't take much to organise as you've been doing it for years.

Hi Sue,

Route 61 would be superb for us Blues music fans but at least Route 66 starts the same way with Chicago & St Louis.

Have you been to any of the Cities on R61 ?

I love Chicago my favorite city, been a few times and was considering going to the Blues festival this year in June but opted for Parks & Canyons with JY instead.

Also been to St Louis and Memphis (Beale street was great fun). Never been to New Orleans, been booked twice but Katrina stopped me in 2005 and Gustav in 2008, must get there one day.

Hi Mick

Although I have been to the US quite a lot, the only "music" city was Nashville and that was some years ago. Never been to Chicago. Love New York and San Francisco. I hope to get to New Orleans one day.

I stayed in Flagstaff on route 66 when I went with JY last year. Really wetted my appetite and would love to do a full tour of Route 66!!!! As they have already got tour arranged under the Travelshphere brand, it would not take a lot of effort and imagination to make it a brilliant tour for JY customers.

Come on JY sort out the arrangements and you can have my booking NOW.

Hi Mick,

Wow you really have set the ball rolling haven't you? There seem to be so many people interested and for whom this is a 'trip of a lifetime' - me included.

As you and others say,Travelsphere have this set up for them already so it would be easy to arrange a few trips for Just You.

At this rate you will have filled the first trip up.

I have priced this with both Travelsphere and a rival company but a trip with Just You would be better inasmuch as there would be no couples.

I hope it all comes to fruition - it won't be through want of trying if it doesn't. Good luck.

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

Yes lets hope JY do get their act together and provide us with this holiday opportunity. Reckon we've already 10+ of us on this forum showing genuine interest and reckon only about 10% of JY customers use the forum so that number could be 100+.

Of ourse we may have to revert to plan "B". Thats where all us singles get our heads together and block book one of the Travelsphere trips, lol.

Joking aside think I'm doing route 66 in stages, been to Chicago (love the place) numerous times, did St Louis 5 years ago, saw LA with JY's Golden West hol last year and doing Parks & Canyons in June which will take in Flagstaff.

I would be interested in this trip. I have visited LA, San Fran and Las Vegas but it would be great fun to travel this famous 'Route'.

Re;Route 66,

Count me in, I would book it now so that I know I was on it!

Unlike Mick who missed New Orleans due to Gustave, I was in the country at Nashville and Memphis with Thomas Cooke as a single and 15 couples (2 other singles in their 70's!!!). We hit New Orleans as Hurricane Ike roared by. Surreal standing on Bourbon Street , drink in hand listening to Blues with 50 mph winds. Great fun but not the same as a Just You trip to Jordan and Egypt last year- where everyone is single makes it so much friendlier.

Dear all

I'm pleased to say that we are now hoping to include a Route 66 holiday for 2012! It's not 100% certain yet but it is something we would like to add having seen all your comments. So fingers crossed, you will all be able to make this famous journey next year.

Kind regards

Olly, your editor

That's great news! A route 66 trip with JY would be brilliant. I've spoken to people who have been on this trip with Travelsphere and they have raved about it. Well done for starting this petition Mick!
