Hi I'm Lorraine and I'm off on the Route 66 Holiday in September from Manchester. Wondered if anyone who had already done this holiday had any useful tips or memories to share. E.g temperatures and what did they pack, best part of the holiday etc. I'm very excited about going and am reading books on it at the moment.

Thank you Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,

I did the holiday last year in October and it was mostly T-Shirt weather, may need fleece or light jacket in Chicago but from 3 or 4 days into the holiday it was shorts most of the time.

Can get cool in Flagstaff on a evening because of the altitude but should be fine in Sept.

I was on the same tour last year, and It was Fantastic. Super Hotels, and the people we met along the way were great fun. Mick's photo's brought back such happy memories!

Hi Lorraine

I was on the same trip as Mick last year. So many great things to see and do.

My top 3 things was the Grand Canyon, Chicago and the Universal Studio Tour.

Another place that sticks in my memory is the site of the Oklahoma Bomb.

Rach,

Yes our group last year was 45 which was big. But the holiday was new to JY possibly wont be that many this year.

Think 45 was the max but I've also done a touring holiday with only 18 on it.

You are best to use the Ask the editor section of the forum and Julia will tell you how many are booked.

Mick

Hello Anne & Paul, trust you are both well and have this years holidays planned.

Hi Mick and Anne

I'm well thanks and hope you are too. Our Route 66 trip was epic and 1 to remember for a long time. I'm not going on a JY holiday this year as I'm going to Greece with a few friends instead. I'm going to Florida with my nephew in April. I'll be back on a JY holiday next autumn. I trust that you've had 1 or 2 holidays planned for this year.

Paul,

Went to Italys cilento coast with JY in April (can recomend it) and also been to Crete in June but not with JY.

Doing National Parks, canyons, mount rushmore, LBH with JY (manchester departure) in 6 weeks time, looking forward to it.

Hi Mick

The parks and canyons with LBH is on my list of holidays. Having heard so much about it from other travellers on Route 66 and also loving the Grand Canyon and other fabulous scenery we encountered I feel I must do it soon. Maybe in 2015 I think.

Hope you enjoy it and I would like to see some of your pictures when you get back if possible.

Paul
