Hi there. I've just taken the plunge and booked my first Just You holiday. I chose Madeira and am travelling in June. Has anyone out there been on this holiday? I would value any tips or information.

Hi there Anne. This is my first holiday for over a year and I've always fancied a visit to Madeira. I'm told it is a very beautiful island and I'm sure you are right, we'll both have a great time. I'm particulary looking forward to the toboggan run. It looks like fun from the video I saw on You Tube. I live in the north of England so will be flying from Leeds / Bradford airport. Hopefully catch up with you in Madeira.

Hi Bazz

The toboggan run sounds cool, that'll get the adrenaline pumping, I'll have to check You Tube for that one. I live on the South coast so I'm flying from Gatwick.

I suppose you could say I'm going from one beach to another although not a pebbly one covered in deck chairs and old ladies

Hi again Anne. No deckchairs for sure in Madeira I'd guess. Not sure about old ladies though lol. It will be good to feel some warm sunshine after the horrendous winter we had up here. Last December was a nightmare. Am crossing off the days to the holiday already. So glad I plucked up the courage to book.

Me too, the thought of some sun is getting us through winter. Even though we dont get snow down here as hard as you guys do we had really bad snow in November, December. I think I lived in wellies for about a week trying to get to work.

I'm crossing the days off too, getting away from everything for a while is very appealing isnt it.

We were pretty much cut off for days here in December with many roads blocked by deep snow. We had icicles up to a metre and more long hanging from the roofs of houses. The weight brought the guttering down on many properties. It was awful. Thank goodness Spring has arrived at last. Roll on sunny Madeira.

I know you had it bad up there I have a friend who lives in Holmfirth and she was snowed in for a couple of weeks, and my ex lived in Stratford upon Avon and they had snow right up to new year.

I know I love spring, I think its my favourite time of year as soon as the daffs come through it brightens everything up, starts me thinking about stuff that I want to do in the year. I've got my holiday to look forward too, and new people to meet and a few other things that I want to do. Having said that it is very cold at the moment, but I keep thinking of the sunshine

Sounds like you had a hard time in the snow, I have a friend who lives in Holmfirth and she was cut off for a long time luckily she works from home, and my ex lived in Stratford upon Avon and they had bad snow up to New Year.

But spring has sprung and its my favourite time of year closely followed by September when its nice and mellow and the blackberries are out, the daffs are coming up and the birds are singing and everything is coming back to life.

I've bought a few bits for my hols now so i'm getting ready for it x

Yes Anne, spring has finally sprung here too. I went for a walk by the river here on Monday last. Everything is springing into life. The clocks will be going forward shortly and the lighter nights will be finally with us again too. Everything is looking up.

I have a few things to buy for the hols. Must get to the shops soon.

A friend asked me how it was to the holiday and I had to work it out.

It's 15 weeks this coming Monday.

It will soon pass, I'm sure.
