After lots of pondering I have decided to take the plunge and booked my first single holiday. Booked for Cuba 31st July if there is anyone out there booked on this would love to here from you. Thank you for all the positive feedback after my first post this was paramount in my decision. Hope to meet some of you soon 🙂

I'm glad that you have 'taken the plunge.' I'm going to Cuba on 31st July too. I'm travelling from Manchester the day before. I've never been on holiday on my own. I thought this holiday looked good as it had a variety of sightseeing, activities around the hotel and relaxing too.

Hi Great to hear from someone going on the same trip, and a first timer like me. I thought it looked good and a bit different. Did you see it on Trevor McDonalds 'Hidden Carribean'? It looks fantastic.

Yes, I recorded the programme on the tv box. It was a great programme . At the moment i am watching a dvd of Auf Wiedersehen Pet the fourth series as they went to do a building job in Cuba. I know its not factual but it does show lots of snippets of Havana and the countryside etc. It seems a long time to wait until July but it all sounds exciting.

It does seem a long while to wait, I think I will prob travel up the day before so I don't have to worry about getting to the airport on time. I'm just trying to learn a few Spanish phrases to help me by, the accents not good though :slol

I'm going to Gatwick the day before as my flight from Manchester would have meant a big rush. As for my Spanish, i'm afraid i can only say orange and hello. I bought some spanish lessons on cd last year but havent had chance to try them out yet. I have been thinking about them and got them out this morning but thats as far as i got. Just getting them out. I will give them a go at some point in the next few months and have a go . I'm sure my family will have a laugh if i try it out on them first.

I wonder how many other people are going .

Hi Sweetpea & Rephy

Cuba is a destination I am interested in for the distant future. So be sure to post your comments/experiences on the "Testimonial" part of the Community pages on your return.

Enjoy.

I might ask them how many are going as I have to ring and find out about insurance. I have international cover through my bank which seems pretty comprehensive, but need to find out if its as comprehensive as the one jy offers, as the info they sent says it has to be in order to travel.

Hows the Spanish going Sweet Pea? I know a few sentences now, but will probably have forgotten them by the time we go lol

I've finally got the Spanish cds out. The first word you have to learn is 'possible' obviously in spanish. I'm going to have a go at the weekend. Not promising anything though as i too will probably forget everything by July. I suppose it will be a laugh trying out our awful spanish when we get to Cuba.

I got the insurance from Just You as the man on the phone assured me it was excellent but i need to delve further into the small print as they only sent me an overview of it.

I've still not got round to ringing about insurance but I think the one my bank offers should be adequate. I went to see my son on Sunday and he's presented me with another 3 language books including Spanish grammar a bit heavy going, but think I must show willing now lol.

Its nice that your son gave you some language books but i wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure we will be fine. I must remember to book my dog into the kennels before they get booked up in the summer.

I decided to ask Olly how many people were going on the trip as curiosity got the better of me.

Ah how many people did he say were going?? I'm getting quite excited now even started on the clothes buying, not that I need any excuse to go shopping to buy new clothes. Will definitely sort my insurance this weekend.

Olly said 'that they had had a few bookings.'

I suspect he means us! He also said that their is plenty of time yet for more bookings. Not to worry, we'll have a good time regardless.

Its a nice excuse for new clothes . Its good to have something to look forward to after the harsh winter.

I'm sure we'll have great time, I can't wait, have been reading lots about it in travel books it seems so interesting. I feel sorry for people who have booked to go to Japan-All those poor people over there, my heart goes out to them.

I've been reading about Cuba too. Its my bedtime reading at the moment. Perhaps we'll learn a bit more too when people return from the earlier trips to Cuba.

As for Japan, it makes you realise how fortunate we are here.
