Hello Gael,I've just been on the Wonders of China trip and thought you might want a bit of reassurance about taking your first trip. I was petrified, never having travelled alone before but it must have taken all of 10 minutes at Heathrow in the lounge to put my mind at rest.Meeting everyone else before flying was a great nerve breaker, including our tour guide who was a remarkable woman. The holiday is exhausting, exilerating, entertaining, educational, but most of all great, great fun.I have never laughed so much or enjoyed a holiday so much in all my life.I hadn't realised I could contact other travellers on this site before going so went blind but it made no difference because everyone was in the same boat, travelling on their own.My one bit of advice is to take an empty trolley case because the shopping is fantastic- just practise your bartering skills before you go!This might not be the kind of message you expected but if I can be of any help then don't hesitate to get in touch

Hello Jean, thank you for your lovely reply. It does sound wonderful! I do have a question (no surprise there then!).

I'm trying to guess about how much money I will need. I am doing the Hong Kong Add On and will need to buy all food etc. there as none is included. So I need to allow for that, but wondered how much I might need for the main trip as I know all food is included isn't it? I realise it does of course depend on how much individuals want to spend but I'm trying to get some idea.

I don't want to go too mad as I'm also going to Australia in February 2009 and need to save for that, but by the same means I don't want to be short for China (this is a trip I've looked forward to for so long).

What do you (or anyone else) think?

Thank you again for your response.

Hello this would be my first ever trip and I am undecided as to try China first (12 day one) or America Canyons and parks..... seriously think it will be China first though what is October like?

Dear Kazz,

October in Beijing is usually warm and sunny whilst in Xian temperatures tend to be slightly warmer at this time of year. Early Autumn is one of the most comfortable seasons in which to visit China as the summers can be extremely hot and the winters can be bitterly cold. Temperatures in October throughout China are about 50-72F but there may be a limited amount of rain. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Kind Regards

Cheryl, Your Editor
