Hi all,

I keep hovering around the Just you site, trying to decide whether a single holiday is for me. I keep reading the testimonials and the holidays sound just wonderful and I'd love to take the plunge, but I worry about the social side of things - I'm very friendly but very shy and my worst nightmare is those 'getting to know you' type nights - you know, with the 'passing the orange under your chin' games and all that!! I love meeting people but my nerves go with things like that and I'd flee to my room to hide! But then I'd be worried about missing out and then imagine everybody at breakfast talking about what a fantastic time they had the night before... as you can tell, my imagination runs riot about situations like that and I haven't even booked a holiday yet! So I'm wondering - what happens in the evenings, and what are the experiences of the quieter Just You travellers?

I hope I'm not coming across as a misery - I'm just shy (and a born worrier!!)

Thanks

Kazzen

Hi there!

I'm just about to embark on my 6th JY holiday. Everyone is nervous the first time but there's no reason to be. You can do what you like when you like! You don't have to join in if you don't want to and I can assure I have not seen any daft games with oranges!!..Sometimes, after a long day I go to my room soon after dinner and nobody is bothered. You can do as much or as little socialising as you like, that's what these holidays are all about - so stop hovering and book it!!!

Regards, Pat

Hi,

This will be my 3rd year going away with Just You and I can assure you that there were no getting to know you games. Friendship just takes its course throughout the holiday and you won't be left on your own unless you want to be. Keep in mind that most of the group are in the same position as you but the one thing you all have in common is the desire to see a particular part of the world.

You will soon overcome your nerves and worries, it really is lovely to have the security of travelling within a group but the privacy of your own room. The tour managers are great and make sure it all just 'gels' together.

Go for it!

You are in a Tizzy arnt you!!!! I have been on 6 JY holidays and 1 this year to go and 1 in the pipeline for next year..so all I can say is WE DONT PLAY GAMES in the evenings we are to busy sight seeing..!!

I have done 4 Long Haul trips and the days are so full that really a nice meal and either gental wandering or just a cosy chat/evening, are what I need, and 2 short haul trips, these have not been so full on in the day but still busy enough and the evenings have been more meal in hotel (as in Half Board style)and then stay hotel based or just venture close by.

It depends on the style of holiday as some of the sight seeing is during the evening as well, as a group. All I can say is the holidays are so worth trying. So book one you fancy what have you got to lose. Strangers are just friends we have not met yet.

Hi again

Thankyou all so much, I feel much better about that side of things now. I was just concerned about coming across as 'the miserable one'. My hovering days may soon be over!

Thanks again

Hi Kazzen

There is really nothing to worry about, Why dont you pick a short type holiday that you fancy. And give it a try. I have been on 9 Just you trips so far, With another two already booked for next year. And i can honestly say, That, I have not had two trips alike. However I have yet to go on one that play the games that you have mentioned, Not yet anyway. There are a lot of folk in a very similar boat to yourself. But on the main, They have all been very good and enjoyable trips, And you will not be pressured to do anything that you do not wish to do. Give it a go, You will not regret it

Hi Kazzen

I feel just the same as you and so thought I would try out one of JY's long weekend tours. I went to Holland last year and found the whole experience to be fantstic. Believe me if there had been any "party games" you wouldn't have seen me for dust because that would be my worst nightmare!!!!!

Why don't you dip your toe in the water by just trying one of the weekend trips? That way if you don't enjoy yourself you have only got 4 days before you are home again. It might give you confidence..............I am now looking to book a "proper" holiday again with JY.

Good luck.

Hi

I too am nervous about booking a holiday. I am really hoping to do it for my first time next year. I am a member of a social activity group and did a Solo's holiday with them and I didn't know a soul. I survived fine but I found that the emphasis was on party party party with some folk out drinking all night til dawn. This is not the sort of holiday I want! I am a young 56 year old and really want to sightsee and spend the evenings in good company but I don't want to be surrounded by people going out and getting wasted!! Something a bit more grown up and less 18/30s would be fine for me. Would JY be ok for me?

Thanks for any info.

JaneLC..

JY would be fine for you I am 51 and have done 6 holidays with 2 more booked..I have never been on a tour were people get wasted so defo not like 18/30 holiday take my word. If you go on a tour holiday your to tired to spend the night drinking and staying up till the early hours of the morning.. I have not done an all inclusive more beach holiday, as I like to stretch my brain with the touring side of these holidays. So I hope you book a holiday and give JY a go.
