Hi, I am hoping to go on the tour of Australia in March 2011. This will be my first holiday alone. Is anyone else thinking of doing this holiday or has anyone been to Australia and can give me any tips, as this has always been my dream destination, but I am very nervous. Thanks Susie

I was booked on this tour 2 years ago but JY cancelled it, and I couldnt make the date they offered, but I still did very similar tour with a friend independantley. I LOVED this country and it lived up to all my dreams my main draw was to see Ayres Rock which was fantastic. If you get time I would say try and do the helicopter flight early evening to see the colour change and the aerial shots are out of this world. I also did a hot air ballon ride in Cairns which was great as well. I don't know if you will get the time but if you do its a chance of a life time..I flew straight through just stopping for re fuel etc,and I thought it would be horrid but wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. Have a great time

Hi Susie

I did this 3 week trip with JY last November. I've had some really good holidays but this was by far the best. Like the other messager I thought Ayers Rock (now called Uluru) was an absolute highlight. We didnt get chance to do the helicopter but did the Sounds of Silence Dinner at sunset - an experience not to be missed as was the baloon ride. The combination of cities and natural beauty was awesome. As it was a fairly long trip the group got to know each other really well and we had great fun. I can wholeheartedly recommend this trip - I'm really jealous I'm not going!!

Hi Susie

Well looking into from work point of view just hope they allow me the time off. Is it the 8th March you are booked onto? This is my second dream holiday of doing. My first was safari, which i did back in Jan with JY and enjoyed every minute. Dont be nervous of doing this on your own, i know it is easy to say but you do meet a great bunch of people. I will probably be nervous again this time. Where are you travelling from? I will be coming up from Cornwall

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the reassuring message, safari must have been amazing! Yes I am booked for 8 March and will be flying from Heathrow. Although it is still months ahead I am already thinking about it all the time.

Please keep in touch, hope they will be ok at work and that I will see you there.

Hi Sam,

Its great that you will be coming to Australia. Have a fantastic time at the Grand Canyon - you must be a really experienced traveller!

I will be travelling from West London, so I am lucky that it is not too far to Heathrow. Can we arrange to meet there nearer the time. I have stuck pictures of Australia all over my kitchen and am already counting the weeks.

I would love to hear what you think of the Grand Canyon when you return. I am sure it must be amazing.

Best wishes Susie

Hi Sue

Not doing the stopover, but I'm not sure how it works, will you be on the same flight for the last part of the journey? Will see you in Aus for sure anyway. I am looking forward to it so much! Lovely to hear from you

Hi there

I am also thinking of going to Australia and adding on New Zealand next year. Unfortunately, March may not suit so I am thinking of going through Travelsphere in April and either paying the single supplement (which is actually cheaper than the the Just You price)or trying to find a someone to share with.

Hi, I have just booked Australia with the New Zealand add on. I am taking the Singapore stopover so I hope to meet up with some of you so we can go for some sightseeing and meals together. This is my 2nd JY holiday, I went to China in July and it was fantastic. I am really excited about Australia as it is somewhere I have always wanted to vist.

Hi, Just booked my first Just You holiday to Australia with New zealand add on & a stopover in Singapore leaving on 4th March. It will be a holiday of a life time & as I have just retired & work committments prevented me going before.Have been on several Solo's holidays but concerned about the ages/group size of Just You despite having many recommendations from fellow travellers with Solo's.Would be grateful of any views & anyone else doing this trip.

Hi Rosie, glad to hear someone else will be in Singapore with me. I have just retired too. On my last JY holiday the ages ranged from 30 to 70 and everyone was very friendly. There were a lot more women than men and we all just mixed together really well.
