lamor. This trip is the best ive been on, although mine was the "wonder of China" but we were based in Beijing for a few days and xian too. Chinese people are very friendly. the, food is superb, three meals every day. Its casual dress for day and evening. The sights to see are incredible. We visited a silk factory and they made all sorts of things, bedding, clothes, scarves etc, high quality things at reasonable prices which you can buy whilst in the factory shop.Your money goes a long way in China. Fantastic place. enjoy.

Hi Mabes,

Thanks so much for your reply, this trip sounds wonderful, can't wait! Could you let me know what currency/trav. cheques you took, and did you need the dreaded jabs for anything?

Sorry to "pick your brains" again, but I'm a complete novice at this and it looks like you're a bit of a "Jet Setter". Thanks again,

Linda

Hello Lamor. Booked this holiday three weeks ago and it cant come quick enough, I went on a just you holiday to france three years ago and enjoyed it, but this time I am being more adventurous, I would also like any advice on currency if any one can help, as for jabs it does say in the back of the just you brochure they are not required for China.

i did the wonder of china trip in november and it was fantastic.

a few tips??

dont take too much stuff with you!! alot of us ended up getting rid of stuff to be able to bring all our goodies home!!! even then i had excess baggage costs when flying from heathrow to manchester!!!!

haggle if you can when buying things, you will get a bargain.

take lots of batteries for your camera, i took nearly 700 photos while i was away!!!

our tour manager was wonderful, she was called lisa and couldnt do enough for us. the local guides we had too were brilliant and really knew their stuff.

i took yuan notes with me and coped fine. some people did take travellers cheques but most people had cash.

the only spending money you need is for souvenirs/goodies!! all the food is included. at lunch and dinner 1 drink is included with your meal but then you can buy more if you want too, the beer was ok and really cheap.

be prepared for some intersting toilets!!!! there were alot of squatting toilets. the majority of places had a few western toilets but one place we went too (cant remember where) only had the squatty ones. the smells in these toilets are not too good. another toilet tip (sorry!!) is to take tissues/toilet roll with you as they dont always have any.

anyway, if theres anything else you want to know just ask.

enjoy your holiday. it is a wonderful country.

Hello Helen. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message, I think I will get myself plenty of yuan currency and lots of batteries before I go because I also like to take loads of photo's, and your advice about not taking too much luggage is something to consider.

Hi Abromage, good to hear you've booked this trip, and that you've travelled solo before and enjoyed it so much.Looking forward to meeting you.

Thank you to Helen for all the information, I'll order my yuan notes, and start stockpiling the batteries, AND the tissues!!

Hello to all who are going to China.

Ref vaccinations, in the back of the just you brochure it says vaccinations are not necessary for this trip, but after doing a search on google it came up with a recommendation of several vaccinations, so I have made an appointment with my GP to see what he thinks.

CU all in eight weeks.
