Hi there,

I've been reading conflicting reports in the press about chargers and adapters, and where they should be carried.  I have a charger for my smartphone which I would normally carry in my hand luggage.  I also take a travel adapter, which I tend to put in my hold luggage.  I understand that I have to make sure my mobile is fully charged before I fly, but am not sure about charger leads and adapters. I am flying to Seville (Costa de la Luz) in September 25.

Please can you advise.

Hi Vivien,

Thanks for your message. The most authoritative source with regards to hand and hold luggage is the CAA: https://www.caa.co.uk/passengers-and-public/passenger-guidance/baggage/safety-advice-on-what-to-pack/

Adaptors are fine in your hand or hold luggage.

If you have a traditional phone plug and cable for your phone, this are also fine to place in your hand or hold luggage. However if you have a portable power bank to charge your phone, this must be packed in your hand luggage and security may ask you to take this out of your bag to present for checking.

I hope this helps and have a great holiday!

Hi Vivien.

i put my phone charger in hand luggage and travel adapter plug in suitcase. As far as I'm aware this is still ok. I'm also going to Seville in September. Are you flying from Gatwick?

see you there,!
