Hi Everyone.

I am getting excited about our trip. Does anyone have any idea on what amount of canadian dollars to take. I think it might be more expensive there than here. What sort of clothes is everone taking. I am not sure wether to take walking boots? Shaney x

Hi Shaney, I'm not sure how many dollars to take either, yes Canada is more expensive than here I believe, I shall have a backup card. Clothes is a difficult one, I think layers and comfortable walking shoes rather than boots. Trying to get myself organised too! Look forward to meeting you Cicely.

Hi All

I did this tour pre-pandemic and you are in for a treat. A few tips:

  • I would take walking boots/shoes, especially if you are doing the Athabasca Glacier or Grouse Mountain optional excursions.

  • Canada can be a little pricey but you also need to remember the local sales taxes, which aren't shown on the sticker price but added at the till, when shopping.

  • In terms of packing, I went at a different time of year (September) but, as a rule of thumb, the first half of the tour is up in the mountains and will be much cooler, so layers, a lightweight jacket and even gloves and a hat are a good idea. On my trip, we were all in winter woolies for the first week but, as soon as we passed Kamloops we were in t-shirts!

  • The scenery is stunning so, how ever many memory cards you were thinking of taking - double it :-)

  • Take plenty of mozzie repellant because the little devils are everywhere, especially up in the mountains.

  • Everyone remembers Lake Louise but ask if your Tour Manager has time to make a brief stop at Bow Lake on the way through the Icefields Parkway, it's beautiful. (As are Peyto, Moraine, Maligne and Patricia)

Happy to try and answer any other questions if I can.

Have an amazing time
