Hi. I'm off to Slovenia on 2nd July for my first solo holiday, and feeling more anxious as it gets closer!

I have a couple questions for anyone that's been on this trip before - will i need walking boots or are walking shoes/trainers sufficient?

Also are there a lot of mosquitos/midges by the lakes?

Thanks

Hello Melanie,

I am doing this trip too, and despite having doing 2 trips already, am feeling a little nervous!  I had a really good time before - Chateau weekend in 2022 and Pompeii etc last year - everyone one was so friendly, I had a great time. I am sure this trip will be the same.

Still deciding what to take to wear though, I try hard to take as little as possible, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Comfortable shoes are a must I think!

I did the Secret Slovenia trip  in September 2022 and absolutely loved it.

I took trainers and sandals and was fine and I wasn't aware of any midges anywhere.

The air is so fresh and clean and it was generally warm although it could be cold in the mountains.

It's a beautiful country and the group I travelled wiht were all very friendly, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Hi Jan

Great to hear from a fellow traveller.  Yes I think we'll have to cater for all sorts of weather being in the mountain area - layers and a waterproof (which hopefully we won't need). Definitely comfortable shoes needed - think I'll just stick to walking shoes & trainers rather than walking boots though.

Hopefully see you at the airport! :-)
