Hi lovely just you travellers

im off to ecador and Galapagos on the 10th April - my first trip out of Europe since Covid and using JY again -  I'm really excited.

anyone that's been before I was wondering whether to buy and take snorkelling gear or not? And is there a need for a dry bag to and if so how big would you go?! Big enough Tom just take a camera and phone or more like a day bag ?

Was bug spray an essential ? And did this have to be non aerosol ?

We're credit cards easily used ? Or was it better to have cash - and currently I have no real concept of how much cash I might need !

any other hints and tips ?

the reviews on here have been amazing to read and provided so much info

any other hints and tips ? Or anyone who's been more recently than 2019............

thanks fellow travellers 😘

lucinda (I can't wait to escape 🤗)

Hi Lucinda

I am also travelling to Ecauador & the Galapagos on 10th April so look forward to meeting you and our fellow travellers. Galapagos has been on my wish list for some time so hoping it wont disappoint!

In terms of credit cards or cash I have noted that the entry fee on arrival in Galapagos (approx $130) is stated as cash only, so take enough cash to cover this, and having just bought a bug spray/aerosol I have now read that bug repellant must be non aerosol !! 🙄

Amazing to hear from someone else going

Looking forward to meeting you and the others

yes I had seen the cash re the entry fee- just wondered how much more we needed and if card was widely accepted.

are you bringing anything  special for the Galapagos like snorkelling gear / dry bag ?!

A little unsure of what to pack other than rain gear! Hot and rainy I believe!

im travelling from Kent - u?

Hi Lucinda

Not taking any snorkelling gear for Galapagos as assumed this would all be provided. I think perhaps I need to check this out. 🤔

Packing shorts/t shirts and a light rain mac. Also some light trousers and long sleeved tops in case of bugs and cooler climes.

I am travelling from Hertfordshire so Heathrow not a bad airport for me.

Hi Lucinda

All snorkelling gear was provided when I went in November. I did find the climate quite humid so was glad to have taken a synthetic jacket rather than down, which would have just got damp. Weather could be very changeable just within the day, so layers were best. I didn't need insect repellent or anti histamine cream but that may have been just the time of year. Other than the $130 for entry fees and money for tips, I found I didn't really need much cash. Most places accepted debit cards so that was fine and I brought some dollars back with me. Exceptions to that would tend to be market stalls. I took a day sack with me and it was useful for layers, jackets etc.
