I really REALLY wanted to come on this trip but one of my (adult) children needed his mum to be around at Christmas. I read some reviews about the 2018 trip where a few suggestions were made how to improve the experience. I regretted not joining this trip several times over Christmas and would love to know how everyone found the trip this year. Hopefully I will be able to screw up my courage and book for Christmas 2020 if I can be reassured that the necessary improvements were made.

I particularly would like to know what Christmas Day at Bran Castle was like. I imagine that it was hugely atmospheric. Did it snow? Did you all go to midnight mass? So many questions! I hope someone will reply 🙂

Hi LeiaMadras, I went on this trip for xmas 2019, had a wonderful time, the food in the hotel wasnt the best struggled a little bit also the bar area is tiny and we couldnt go down into the restaurant area to have a drink cause they reserved it for the Romanians to eat even though we had the hotel to ourselves, about 7 of us found a pub about 5min walk away which was good fun, the excursion were really good and bran castle on Christmas day was really lovely and interesting and tasty food, I'm afraid didn't snow until the last day which was a little disappointing but none of the above spoilt my holiday, I met some amazing people and had great laugh with and our tour manager was lovely and brilliant at her job, I would definitely recommend transylvania just go with an open mind and go with the flow, if you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask me and hopefully I can help, the only thing I found was the trip wasnt long enough cause I was enjoying myself so much, hope this helps a bit, a few of us went to the black church on xmas eve for the mass it was at 5pm which I enjoyed even though I couldn't understand what was going on the choir was amazing, worth a visit... Hi Leia

Just like Donna, I would have liked to have stayed a bit longer. This was my first Just You holiday and I am already looking to book another.

The hotel was very central, overlooking the main square, not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, as lots of stairs. As Donna mentioned, it would have been nice to have somewhere to sit and have a drink before dinner and get to know the other guests.

It was nice at Bran Castle but quite a steep slope up to the castle so probably a good job it didn’t snow on Xmas Day. I preferred Peles Castle, which we visited on the way back to the airport and we actually got a little bit of snow there.

The Tour Guide was lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. I would say go for it, they say once you have been on one of these holidays you get hooked and I think they are right.
