Thank Hils,

An amazing review.  I am so glad you had a wonderful time.

I am going to look at this holiday for next year.

Have you booked Namibia yet?

Warm regards

Julie (your Caml Air Pal)

Hi Julie (Calm Air Pal!),

I have just booked Namibia today for October 12th. So far 6 people booked - we need more! Hope to see you then.

Cheers,

Hils

Hello Hils,

Sorry to hear about your photo's.  I really hope your IT man can recover them.

Can I ask if there are any excursions or tours on the add-on or is it just a well needed rest at the end of your trip. Does the tour manager accompany you?

warm regards Julie

Hi Julie,

1,000 photos recovered - yipee!

Re Burma and the add-on - there were no extra excursions although we did have an optional cookery demonstration and lunch cooked in the gardens for us, but this may not be part of the next tour as we did have quite a few "extras" to the itinery, as this was the first JY trip. You can go to the Elephant Camp - none of us did in the end. Unusually, Suzanne our brilliant TM did accompany us on the add-on. This may or may not be the case in the future, but it is a long drive from Yangon, so I would have thought a guide of some description would accompany the next tour. There are things to do, like walking along the beach to the two stone pagodas, and there is the fishing village nearby, but basically it is chill-out time.

Delighted that you have booked Namibia - see you there!

Cheers,

Hils

Excellent news Hils.

I hope I get to see a few of your recovered photos in Namibia.

Thank you for the info re the Burma add on. Not sure what to do as my birthday is the end of February. Do I come home and celebrate or celebrate with new friends in Ngwe Saung?

Warm regards Julie

Fab news about the photos. How about sending some of them in to the JY Facebook page so we can admire them ourselves (now that you've persuaded us to book!)?

Hi Sally,

As I can never go on Facebook again (I was very badly hacked a few years ago through Facebook and it nearly cost me thousands of pounds - check your security settings!). Also a) I have copyright on all my photos - pretentious  I know - and therefore never put them online and b) most importantly - if you see them before you go to Burma, you won't experience all those "wow" moments that we did! I'm very envious - I want to go back there - now!

Cheers,

Hils

I completely understand Hils - you've done a really good job of selling this trip you should get a percentage from JY!

I'm  so close to booking this holiday, but not keen to do such a long flight  in economy.  Did anyone  on your tour upgrade, and if so, what was their verdict?

Hi Sarah,

Yes, five of us upgraded to Business Class - especially on an overnight flight a flat bed is a joy.

Cheers,

Hils

I did add this on the original review, but there is obviously a quirky part of my PC! Suzanne Brown is a fantastic Tour Manager (she was my first ever TM to Morocco), and she really helped to make this tour so wonderful with her "added" little touches! Naing, our local guide, was one of the best I have come across, and you could ask him anything, even political questions, and he dressed appropriately for every occasion!

Wonderful review- Hils, Is it as full on as India - That was NON stop, up at 0500-0600 out at 0800 back to Hotel at around 2030?? Enjoyed every min of it.

Alex

Many thanks Hils-  India was a great trip-  And the NO booze info was super, I did not fall fowl of, I did warn others, who maybe did not hear me. x

Hi Alex,

The Burma tour is as full-on as India, if not more. 0600 was a lie-in! We had 3 internal flights, trains and boats!

Glad you enjoyed India - Burma is now up there as joint Number 1 JY trip (out of 16). I think maybe I warned about the bottles of booze being confiscated at Khajuraho Airport - drinks in Burma are much cheaper, and the wine was good too!

Cheers,

Hils

Hi ladies:  Did you have to take anything for malaria for Burma trip?  I try to avoid anywhere in high risk area.  Thanks D.

Hi Daphnemca

Yes the recommendation by all our practice nurses was to take Malarone and I certainly got bitten a couple of times at Inle Lake and on the way to Bagan (that one was my fault, forgot to put DEET on as I thought we would be staying on the bus.  The Malarone certainly makes the bites less itchy and go away faster.

Hi D,

Yes we did take anti-malarials - I took Malerone. You need to consult with your local GP practice though.

Cheers,

Hils
