I have recently returned from the Texan Ranch Experience and had a really fab time. San Antonio is very pretty with lots to see and do and 2 days was just the right amount of time to see all the sites. The Mayan Dude Ranch is outstanding, so much to do, set in such a beautiful location and the ranch staff are so helpful. Riding is definitely at a walking pace only to take in all the lovely scenery and although I took riding hat, boots and jodpurs I didn't need to. Riding western style is very easy and those who hadn't ridden before didn't have any trouble getting the hang of it. I personally felt that although 5 nights on the ranch was adequate time that the 9 day holiday itself was too short and would have liked us to spend about another 4 days at another location - it's a long way to go for 9 days.
